Sweet Haven is an acoustic and vocal group performing a variety of traditional music and contemporary Americana tunes, with inspiration from many sources. From a modest beginning as the house band for a production of Alice in Wonderland at First Church in Dedham in 2013, Sweet Haven grew to be a local favorite that played many Dedham venues. After two of the five founding members, Steve Cecil and Fred Civian, moved out of the area the band went on hiatus. Then in September of 2025 the opportunity for an international reunion tour (aka one gig at a bistro in southern France) led to a rekindling of the spark. The core of the band’s sound is 3-part vocal harmonies from Lisa Seibert, banjo player Linnea Bardarson and mandolinist Natalie Jensen, and we now welcome new members Tim Parke on guitar and George Batchelor on bass.
First Church and Parish Dedham Unitarian Universalist was gathered in 1638 and is located in Dedham Center at 670 High Street. Its lively music program includes choir at Sunday services, the Parish Players theater troupe, and our Friday Folk Coffeehouse.
