In addition to her solo career as a performer and song writer under the pseudonym Little Microscopic Clouds\, Heather has participated in various non-traditional performance groups\, including several ukulele acts\, which helped establish her as part of Boston’s underground ukulele movement since its humble beginnings. The Heather Mumford Project is the latest collaboration by a group of seasoned musicians\, led by Heather on vocals\, uke and fiddle\, with: Gary Kemp (vocals\, resonator guitar); Dan Discenza (vocals\, dobro); Sam Kendall (vocals\, mandolin); and Harry Wolfson (double bass).Their music is a beautiful Americana harmony of Country\, Bluegrass\, Folk and Blues. Deeply rooted in the old-school folk tradition\, his stories are told in a voice that is honest\, melodic\, and sincere. In the words of Boston radio DJ\, Dave Palmater\, “Tom writes songs that seem like they’ve always been there… a true folksinger.” Tom grew up in rural Pennsylvania in a family where music was part of the fabric of everyday life. A folk veteran of over forty years\, Tom performs at festivals\, coffeehouses\, schools\, and concerts throughout the Northeastern to audiences large and small\, young and old.  Accompanied on multiple instruments by New England folk veteran Seth Connelly\, you are sure to leave their performance feeling better than when you arrived. Cosy Sheridan has been called one of the era’s finest and most thoughtful songwriters. She first appeared on the national folk scene when she won the songwriting contests at The Kerrville Folk Festival and The Telluride Bluegrass Festival in 1992 and released her critically acclaimed CD Quietly Led. Backed by the strong rhythms and harmonies of her bass player Charlie Koch\, she plays a percussive bluesy style of guitar – often in open tunings and occasionally with two or more capos She has performed at Carnegie Hall\, The Cowgirl Hall of Fame and on the Jerry Lewis Telethon. She teaches classes in songwriting\, performance\, and guitar at workshops and adult music camps across the country. There will be refreshments for purchase.  Tickets are $15 and are available online at Folk Coffeehouse | dedhamuu and at the door.  Doors open at 7:00 pm. \n  \nThe Doppelgängers \, Kenny Raskin and RF Berks\, make their 3rd triumphant return to the Church\, having played the Friday Folk Coffeehouse concerts in 2022 and 2023. This time they are bringing a few other players along. Both RF and Kenny have had their own musical careers as singer/songwriters\, but revel in the camaraderie of playing together. Their style is Americana\, with a touch of swing as well. While their careers have been different\, their love of acoustic music and singing harmony has brought them together and found them playing everywhere from living rooms to music festivals. \nThe two men met in 2015 at the Maine Fiddle Camp\, where they soon found out that many people at the camp thought they were brothers. The deal was sealed when RF’s daughter mistook Kenny for her father. Thus\, the Doppelgängers were born. \nKenny was 8 years old when his father’s friend Harry gave him a ukulele. He played that ukulele until he was 11 years old. Then he discovered girls\, and promptly bought a guitar. That ukulele\, however\, was the gateway into a fifty-year plus love affair with playing music on multiple instruments\, including banjo\, mandolin and bass.  In 2018\, Kenny released his debut CD\, MY GREATEST HITS!\, and in 2022 followed it with his second CD\, Peace of Mind. He is also known internationally as an accomplished actor and theatre clown\, having appeared on Broadway and with Cirque du Soleil\, as well as on television and variety stages in the US\, France\, England\, Chile\, Germany and China. \nRF Berks found a Sears guitar in the attic when he was 15 and began carrying it everywhere he went. Whenever he met a kid that could play a song or guitar lick he would make them show him how it worked until eventually he learned enough to form a band. He learned most of what he knows about music long before he studied and obtained a degree in the subject. He has been writing songs – over one hundred – for twenty plus years\, and in 2019 he released an album entitled TREAT ME WELL\, which can be found on the usual streaming platforms. It was an eclectic mix of musical styles with contributing musicians from around the world. There will be refreshments for purchase.  Tickets are $15 and are available online at Folk Coffeehouse | dedhamuu and at the door.  Doors open at 7:00 pm. \nThe Cooke Family Singers is comprised of family members Frances\, Ruth\, and George\, plus an ever-changing and unpredictable set of special guests that can range from their 8-year-old niece to lifelong musician friends.  Their sets are constructed and tailored to each performance venue\, so they can range from an intimate trio with acoustic guitar to a full band.  Vocal duties rotate throughout the performance as our goal is a variety of styles and textures.  Cooke Family Singers sets will feature George’s original songs\, which tend to be humorous and slightly cynical takes on the foibles of our everyday lives. Some examples are the song “I Didn’t Know that You Owned This Road” about driving in Boston or “I’m Going to be a Park Ranger”\, which is a wistful fantasy about a job change. Cooke Family Singers’ other songs are curated covers that feature Ruth and Frances’ tight harmonies and can range from Lake St. Dive to Johnny Cash to songs from the musical “Hamilton”. They perform at porch fests and other musical events in the Northeast.  During the pandemic\, the Singers did a biweekly series of online “hootenanny’s” that were broadcast on Facebook.  The Cooke Family Singers felt it was a small way to try to build some sense of community during a very difficult time.  They are looking forward to participating in the Friday Folk Coffeehouse Series on Fri\, Feb 16\, 2024. Deeply rooted in the old-school folk tradition\, his stories are told in a voice that is honest\, melodic\, and sincere. In the words of Boston radio DJ\, Dave Palmater\, “Tom writes songs that seem like they’ve always been there… a true folksinger.” Tom grew up in rural Pennsylvania in a family where music was part of the fabric of everyday life. A folk veteran of over forty years\, Tom performs at festivals\, coffeehouses\, schools\, and concerts throughout the Northeastern to audiences large and small\, young and old.  Accompanied on multiple instruments by New England folk veteran Seth Connelly\, you are sure to leave their performance feeling better than when you arrived. Cosy Sheridan has been called one of the era’s finest and most thoughtful songwriters. She first appeared on the national folk scene when she won the songwriting contests at The Kerrville Folk Festival and The Telluride Bluegrass Festival in 1992 and released her critically acclaimed CD Quietly Led. Backed by the strong rhythms and harmonies of her bass player Charlie Koch\, she plays a percussive bluesy style of guitar – often in open tunings and occasionally with two or more capos She has performed at Carnegie Hall\, The Cowgirl Hall of Fame and on the Jerry Lewis Telethon. Both Chris and Laura hail from out of state\, but they call Dedham home as they own a home and reside in Riverdale.  Chris has lived in the Boston area since 1992 and has been working as a freelance musician in bars\, restaurants and performance venues for the last 35 plus years.  Laura is a music teacher in the area teaching High School Orchestra.  She has been Irish fiddling for over 20 years\, under the training of her mentor P.V. O’Donnell\, and moved to the Boston area in 2007\, where she has played in numerous Irish sessions\, and folk groups. \nTogether\, Chris and Laura perform a mix of originals\, cover songs\, and instrumentals ranging from Roots Rock to American and Irish Folk music. There will be refreshments for purchase.  Tickets are $10 and are available online at Folk Coffeehouse | dedhamuu and at the door.  Doors open at 7:00 pm. \nThe Doppelgängers \, Kenny Raskin and RF Berks\, make their triumphant return to the Church\, having played the Folk Coffeehouse inaugural concert in 2022. They will have just returned from Colombia\, where they were invited to play at the Sonida Selva Music Festival in Minca and record a live album. The two men met in 2015 at the Maine Fiddle Camp\, where they soon found out that many people at the camp thought they were brothers. The deal was sealed when RF’s daughter mistook Kenny for her father. Thus\, the Doppelgängers were born. \nBoth RF and Kenny have had their own musical careers as singer/songwriters\, but revel in the camaraderie of playing together. Their style is Americana\, with a touch of swing as well. While their careers have been different\, their love of acoustic music and singing harmony has brought them together and found them playing everywhere from living rooms to music festivals. \nKenny was 8 years old when his father’s friend Harry gave him a ukulele. He played that ukulele until 11 years old. Then he discovered girls\, and promptly bought a guitar. That ukulele\, however\, was the gateway into a fifty-year plus love affair with playing music on multiple instruments\, including banjo\, mandolin and bass.  In 2018\, Kenny released his debut CD\, MY GREATEST HITS!\, and in 2022 released his second CD\, Peace of Mind. He is also known internationally as an accomplished actor and theatre clown\, having appeared on Broadway and with Cirque du Soleil\, as well as on television and variety stages in the US\, France\, England\, Chile\, Germany and China. \nRF Berks found a Sears guitar in the attic when he was 15 and began carrying it everywhere he went. Whenever he met a kid that could play a song or guitar lick he would make them show him how it worked until eventually he learned enough to form a band. He learned most of what he knows about music long before he studied and obtained a degree in the subject. He has been writing songs – over one hundred – for twenty plus years\, and in 2019 he released an album entitled TREAT ME WELL\, which can be found on the usual streaming platforms. It was an eclectic mix of musical styles with contributing musicians from around the world. There will be refreshments for purchase.  Tickets are $10 and are available online at Folk Coffeehouse | dedhamuu and at the door.  Doors open at 7:00 pm. \nLorraine Lee Hammond grew up in rural New England when ballads and barn dances were part of community life.  Her many credits as a traditional singer\, songwriter\, teacher\, and multi-instrumentalist include two Appalachian dulcimer books with Yellow Moon Press\, and numerous recordings. A former lecturer in American Folk Music and World Music at Lasell University in Newton\, MA\, she helped to launch the first UMass Boston\, WUMB radio Summer Acoustic Music Week in 1996\, and retired as music director at the close of 2022.  She and Bennett continue to teach in the program as they have done from its inception. Bennett Hammond is a superb finger-style guitarist and recent convert to the five-string banjo. He names “the three Bs\,” Bach\, the blues and Buddy Holly\, as major influences.  Bennett’s songwriting gained traction during the pandemic with his “Mean ol’ Quarantine” blues. \nTogether\, The Hammonds are versatile musicians\, engaging entertainers\, and fun teachers. Their warm stage presence is punctuated with wry humor\, and their command of their instruments and musical genres is without flaw. The Boston Globe calls them “a dazzling\, witty\, eclectic\, delightful duo.” The Hammond’s repertoire ranges in style from traditional Celtic and American songs and ballads through blues and contemporary music. Tickets are $10 available online at Folk Coffeehouse | dedhamuu and at the door.  Doors open at 7:00 pm. \nThe Gloucester Hornpipe and Clog Society has been delighting audiences in New England for over forty years with Celtic\, maritime\, French Canadian\, and original songs and tunes.  The band’s repertoire especially features American Colonial-era tunes\, sing-along sea chanteys\, and original songs of colorful people and places from New England’s rich history. From ragtime to oldtime\, the band’s rollicking\, friendly style is fun for all ages. Nancy Koch plays accordion and guitar. She also sings boldly of pirates and other seagoing rascals\, yet creates lovely vocal harmonies on gorgeous\, slow ballads. Ben Bruno is on fiddle and guitar. He picked up the fiddle and hung up his electric guitar after discovering a love for traditional fiddle music. He has an insatiable thirst for learning new tunes and styles.  Linda Abrams has been playing melodic claw hammer banjo for over 40 years. Band co-founder David “Doc” Rosen is master of the age-old delights of the bodhrán (an Irish drum)\, spoons and bones. He also plays an unusual instrument that never fails to intrigue: the pogocello. From the traditions of the Swedish “Devil’s fiddle\,” eastern European polka percussion sticks\, and 18th and 19th century shipboard Fufu bands\, the pogocello is a mix of rhythm instrument and pogo-stick. There will be refreshments for purchase. Tickets are $10 available online at Folk Coffeehouse | dedhamuu and at the door.  Doors open at 7:00 pm. \nFreddy Badger is an old-time banjo player\, guitarist\, and singer; in the American/Western European roots music tradition. While he is a native of Ashland\, MA\, based on his musical style you could easily believe he is from somewhere in the Appalachian Mountains circa 1920. He released his debut EP ‘ Good Time People’ in the spring of 2022 and can be seen playing around central Massachusetts. Bridget Nault is an accordion player\, guitarist and singer out of Holden\, MA. She is a Berklee educated musician who has appeared all over the state (and beyond) playing her original songs and performing acoustic folk\, rock and alternative covers with her duo Screen Door. Bridget is working on a solo record that will be released early next year. Together this duo will play a selection of old-time and traditional songs spanning from the 16th century through the early 20th century with a focus on the Scot\, Irish and English music that was brought to Appalachia during that time period. \nFirst Church and Parish Dedham Unitarian Universalist was first gathered in 1638 and is located in Dedham Center at 670 High Street. Its lively music program includes church choir at Sunday services\, the Parish Players theater troupe\, and the Concerts at First Church concert series\, in addition to our Friday Folk Coffeehouses

Tickets are $10 available at the door.  Doors open at 7:30 pm. \nSlow Boat Home is a fun-loving Americana band playing original tunes mixed with a lively collection of country\, blues\, jazz\, and jug band music. Selecting many tunes from the first half of the 20th century\, Slow Boat Home makes them their own with stellar lead and ensemble vocals\, harmonica\, mandolin\, bass\, dobro guitars\, and percussion. When it comes to influences\, Slow Boat Home is an eclectic bunch. Jim Kweskin\, Bonnie Raitt\, Bessie Smith\, Lee Dorsey\, Mississippi John Hurt\, Big Bill Broonzy\, Toots & the Maytals\, Jerry Douglas and many more supply musical inspiration.  Local to Boston\, they collaborate with and are inspired by Paul Rishell & Annie Raines\, Avi Salloway\, Geoff Bartley and Session American. Many of them have warmed the seats at Club Passim and the Passim school of music\, and they know the Cantab Lounge stage very well. \nFirst Church and Parish Dedham Unitarian Universalist was first gathered in 1638 and is located in Dedham Center at 670 High Street. There will be refreshments for purchase in the dining room. Tickets are $5 available at the door.  Doors open at 7:30 pm. \nJonathan Pape does not consider himself a musical lifer. Nor does he consider himself a hobbyist. He has learned from Neil Young\, REM\, Concrete Blonde and the late Mark Lanegan (Screaming Trees) to let music be there when he needs it. He has taken his songs out of town and kept them close to home. His Dad once wrote to him that his songs are personal. Very personal. He said they feel like they have a lot to do with the warm\, moist\, under-the-covers moments of true relationships. Old ones. New ones. And the kind you only dream about with someone\, just out of reach. Pape’s last solo record “Every Five Years” can be found on your favorite streaming service and he continues to work on his next one in the moments between being a father and a husband. \nThe Wilson Mountain Skyline Ramblers include Cindy Thames (mandolin)\, Gene Favret (dobro)\, Jed Mehegan (banjo\, guitar)\, Tim Parke (guitar). They are all Boston area Bluegrass lovers who met picking and singing at the monthly Dedham School of Music Bluegrass jams. \nFirst Church and Parish Dedham Unitarian Universalst was first gathered in 1638 and is located in Dedham Center at 670 High Street.
