Ronstadt never lose their capacity to surprise. This progressive folk act combines uninhibited musical creativity and mastery with accessible story songs and an oddball sense of humor. Audiences will see and hear things done with a cello they never thought possible\, meandering stories as captivating as the music\, and hook-filled story songs that you’ll remember long after the lights come up. Guitarist/vocalist Nathans\, from the Philadelphia area\, is an award-winning leader in the Philly songwriting community. DESCRIPTION:Weather permitting\, this concert will take place on the covered patio of the hosts’ home in Rockport\, Massachusetts. Send email to whalecoveproductions@gmail.com to get more information or to request an invitation. \nCraig Bickhardt is a singer/songwriter of the old school – you can hear echoes of such ‘60s folk revival artists as Tom Rush\, Gordon Lightfoot and Eric Andersen in his work. Added to this is the melodic sophistication of a Jimmy Webb or a Paul Simon\, as well as a spare but telling lyric approach. “I admire songwriters like Woody Guthrie and poets like Robert Frost because they created functional art\,” he says. “Too much music today is just for the singer\, not for Everyman. I think of my work as a ‘Please Touch’ museum – I want my songs to be sung until they’re worn out.”

He performs regularly all over the country\, presenting a unique variety of original instrumental music that explores themes of landscape\, geography\, and environment while straddling a line between folk and classical music. “Like a sonic plein-air painter\,” wrote the Boston Globe\, “[Cosgrove] uses his piano as a paintbrush — and he’s made a name for himself doing it.” His “electric and exhilarating” solo piano performances are at once dazzling and intimate: music that has been described as “stunning” and “compelling and powerful\,” — Red Line Roots has called him “stupidly talented” — all presented with “warmth\, humor\, honesty\, and the easy familiarity of a troubadour.”

Send email to whalecoveproductions@gmail.com to get more information or to request an invitation. \nThe ability to write songs that are both modern and ancient is a rare thing. The product of an arcane art of weaving in traditional influences so thoroughly that they become the warp and weft of fresh creations. The Black Feathers\, made up of Ray Hughes and Sian Chandler\, are two such talents. They first became aware of the magic between them while collaborating on several musical projects\, becoming The Black Feathers and life partners in 2012. \n\nAmericana\, Folk\, and Acoustic Indie Rock sensibilities coexist comfortably in their musical world\, with Hughes’ guitar work buoying the kind of harmonies often only heard in family bands. Their music quickly draw the interest of listeners\, but it is the stage chemistry that will keep them riveted. \nHaving already built up a loyal following in the UK\, The Black Feathers have been spreading their wings across the US. They have performed at Philadelphia Folk Festival and AmericanaFest\, and have also been awarded official showcases at the North East Regional and Far-West Folk Alliance conferences.

A powerful lyricist whose songs of compassionate dissent reflect her lived experience as what she lightheartedly calls “the poster-child for intersectionality\,” Justin Hiltner of Bluegrass Situation called Matthews’s gift “a reminder of what beauty can occur when we bridge those divides.” She is made for these times and\, with the release of her new\, hope-fueled\, love-filled social justice album Changemakers\, Matthews hopes to take her place alongside some of her heroes in the world of social-justice music like Sweet Honey in the Rock and Holly Near. Of Matthews\, ASCAP VP & Creative Director Eric Philbrook says\, “By wrapping honest emotions around her socially conscious messages and dynamically delivering them with a warm heart and a strong voice\, she lifts our spirits just when we need it most in these troubled times.”

They’ve been playing and writing music together for as long as they can remember and ‘The Clements Brothers’ marks their first project together since playing in the internationally touring grass-roots band\, ‘The Lonely Heartstring Band’ with whom they put out two albums on Rounder Records. With roots\, rock\, bluegrass\, jazz\, and classical influences\, George (on guitar) and Charles (on bass) aim to capture their singer-songwriter sensibilities in a unique blended voice\, at once enthralling and intimate\, groovy and serene. They are joined by drummer Mike Harmon\, who joined the band after an impromptu late night set at the Ossipee Music festival\, and adds his unique roots-conscious musicality to the group’s evolving sound.  The trio is a fusion of each member’s unique musical journey\, and the result is m

His dad used to chop wood with neighbor Garth Hudson of the Band and literally built the floor that Bob Dylan stood on at manager Albert Grossman’s Bearsville studios in Woodstock\, NY.  His mom heard Pete Seeger and Joan Baez play when they filmed a TV show in her uncles living room in Boston\, and dated one of the Chambers Brothers before she met his dad.  Weaned on a diet of Jackson Browne and Toots and the Maytals\, some of Forest’s earliest memories are of his dad playing “Poncho and Lefty” by Townes Van Zandt and his mom singing Elizabeth Cotton’s “Freight Train”. Forest wrote songs with Rory Block when he was six years old\, learned to juggle with WavyGravy when he was 9\, and studied drumming with the late African master percussionist Babatunde Olatunji as a teenager.  In college he played in a band with SNL star Maya Rudolph. They opened for No Doubt at the Catalyst in Santa Cruz before Forest left to study art in Spain. \nA pioneer of the DIY movement he recorded his first record in his bedroom in San Francisco with bassist Seth Ford Young (Tom Waits\, Edward Sharpe) and toured Europe for the first time\, including playing at the Rally on Dam Square in Amsterdam for the Tibetan Freedom Concert where he first met Ben Harper\, Alanis Morrisette and Thom Yorke. \nWith over 78 million plays on Pandora\, troubadour and award-winning songwriter\, Forest Sun\, enlivens audiences around the globe with his wealth of songs and stories\, all sung and told in a laid-back California style. Sun’s soulful music draws on a deep well of Americana and is compared to everyone from Jack Johnson and The Avett Brothers to Van Morrison and Bob Dylan.  He’s played festivals from California (Strawberry Music Festival\, American River Music Festival) to Europe (Belladrum in Scottland\, Fiesta City in Belgium)\,opened for such luminaries as Lyle Lovett\, Bonnie Rait\, Steve Earle\, Keb Mo\, and toured with folks like Brett Dennen\, Mason Jennings and the Beach Boys (Forest met famed Beach Boys producer Van Dyke Parks at a festival porch jam and later swapped songs on his piano at his house in LA). Musical collaborations on his records include members of Bob Dylans band\, members of Calexico/Iron and Wine\, Heather Massse(The Wailin’ Jennys\, Prairie Home Companion) Jolie Holland (The Be Good Tanyas)\,  JT Nero(of Birds of Chicago)\, Sean Hayes\, jam band ALO\, and bluegrass band Hot Buttered Rum.

Her hard living music has garnered her the nickname “Canada’s Queen of Americana.” And while her deep\, bluesy croon has drawn comparisons to Lucinda Williams and Gillian Welch\, it’s the poetry of her lyrics that really sets her apart. \nHanson is known for her high energy\, roots guitar driven live performances\, whether playing solo or with her band the Good Intentions. She has an uncanny way of connecting with her audience with an authenticity that is as entertaining as it is disarming.

The Pennsylvania-born Graham and Central California’s Tyler have a knack for weaving together elements of joy\, sorrow\, comedy\, and drama in their music\, leaving audiences on the edge of their seats. Now\, in 2023\, the band is set to release Only This Far\, a 12-song collection drawing from the highs and lows of their lived experiences over all those years. \nWith a smorgasbord of eclectic instruments and a stunning blend of harmonious vocals\, the band has crafted a work of profound emotional depth with this new album. The songs are a symphony of raw\, unbridled emotion\, weaving together tales of love\, loss\, and longing with a deft touch that could only be crafted by these two songwriters who have quite literally lived on the road for the better part of a decade. It’s a true testament to the band’s unwavering dedication to their craft.

Nygaard\, with her powerful\, resonant\, and deeply emotive amber honey voice\, is a master at putting a tear in your eye with a song that breaks your heart\, and then with a quick wit and an outlandish sense of humor\, she’ll replace it with tears of laughter. \nBuilding on the craft she learned while a staff songwriter on Nashville’s Music Row\, she has won numerous awards including the prestigious Kerrville Folk Festival Songwriting Competition\, and with the title cut of her latest album “Lucky Girl”\, the Tumbleweed Music Festival Songwriting Competition. “Lucky Girl” charted at #3 on the Folk Alliance Radio song chart and #5 on the album chart\, and gave her a significant debut on the Americana chart. It also received impressive reviews from the press. Legendary folk music magazine “Sing Out” claimed the songs “rival the likes of Guy Clark or Ian Tyson”.

SUMMARY:Ash and Eric
DESCRIPTION:Hailing from the gritty heart of the Industrial Revolution — Worcester\, Massachusetts — Ash and Eric find consolation in discovering beauty from the challenges of being artists living in one of the most stubbornly independent cities in the north east. Their musings reflect the hope and pain we all experience in life. Sung in voices as vulnerable and honest as their lyrics\, their songs feel like a sincere welcome\, a shoulder to lean on\, and a hand to hold at the end of a long day. In addition to top tier writing that No Depression says will have you “…coming away from many of these [songs] cleansed\,” their warm harmonies\, swirling acoustic guitars\, and easy stage presence have earned them a dedicated following in the North East folk/singer-songwriter scene. Their highly-anticipated third LP was recorded\, mixed and produced entirely by Eric at a boarding school in Western Massachusetts; and will be released in early 2022 alongside an accompanying short film.

To watch them perform is to be transported. Be it regional Canadian roots\, American old-time\, 50’s Country\, Scandinavian folk music\, or something original that sounds as though it’s been around for a century—the one common thread is their love and reverence for the music and traditions that have been passed down to them. \nHusband and wife duo April Verch & Cody Walters is a true partnership of kindred musical spirits\, each a world-class musician in their own right. Combining their unique backgrounds from Verch’s native Ottawa Valley and Walters’ heartland roots in Kansas\, their music showcases endless creativity and versatility— transitioning effortlessly from traditional Ottawa Valley step dancing and fiddle tunes\, to old-time fiddle-banjo duets with tight-knit vocal harmonies\, to innovative sandpaper foot percussion\, all contrasted against Verch’s sweet soprano voice. \nEven now\, after more than two decades leading her own band and with 14 albums in her name (two of which were nominated for JUNO Awards\, among other honors)\, there is nothing that fulfills Verch or gives her more joy than playing and sharing her music with the world. “It’s like the reward for everything else\,” she says.
