SUMMARY:Peter Mulvey & Ruth Theodore at Harmony on the Green\, with Andrew Sue Wing opening
DESCRIPTION:Over the past 20 years\, Peter Mulvey has pursued a restless\, eclectic path as a writer and musician – immersing himself in Tin Pan Alley jazz\, modern acoustic\, poetry\, narrative\, and Americana stylings. He has shared the stage with luminaries such as Emmylou Harris\, Richard Thompson\, Ani DiFranco\, Indigo Girls\, and Greg Brown. Mulvey began as a self-described “city kid” from Milwaukee\, Wisconsin. He traveled to Dublin\, Ireland\, in 1989\, where he learned the trade of the street singer. Returning to the States\, he began making a living as a subway and street busker in Boston\, before taking to the road full time. Mulvey has a rare ability to hold an audience’s attention and transport them\, using wit\, humor. \nJoining Peter will be Ruth Theodore\, Peter’s labelmate on Righteous Babe Records. Ruth is a seasoned British songwriter and producer whose work fascinates audiences with its gripping honesty and distinctive lyricism. Ruth’s songs of life\, death\, love\, and the human condition are that of a skilled contemporary songwriter. Delivered with effortless unapologetic passion\, Theodore’s live performances will take you places\, make you laugh and cry and often both at once. Ruth has produced three critically acclaimed records\, and following her most recent collaboration with award winning US producer and bassist Todd Sickafoose (Anais Mitchell/Ani Difranco)\, Ruth is back collaborating as co-producer with Todd on her 2024 release “I am I am”. \nAndrew Sue Wing is a Boston based singer/songwriter and guitarist specializing in funk-rock. Equipped with a strong baritone voice and a unique style of rhythm and lead guitar\, he’s able to belt out strong choruses and deliver soulful ballads. His repertoire includes both originals and covers of classics. With influences such as Stevie Wonder\, Sam Cooke\, John Scofield\, and John Mayer\, his originals combine blues\, rock\, funk\, and soul. \nOur building is accessible with an elevator to Clark Hall from the front entrance\, and a lift up to the hall from the back parking lot. We have ample free parking\, accessible parking spots and accessible single user bathrooms.

Reserved seating is suggested and may be purchased at https://hancockchurch.breezechms.com/form/17550915 \nBoston-based Matt and Shannon Heaton play updated and traditional Irish music on flute\, accordion\, guitar\, bouzouki\, and voices. With engaging stage presence and masterfully-crafted music\, Boston-based Matt and Shannon Heaton offer well-travelled Irish music from the heart. Steeped in sessions in County Clare and brewed in the acoustic music scenes of Chicago and Boston\, their flute/guitar/bouzouki instrumentals and sweet husband-and-wife harmony singing draw deeply from the Irish tradition. The Heatons also gently incorporate the Thai music Shannon learned as a kid and rootsy Americana sounds that surrounded them during their three years in bluegrass-haven Boulder\, Colorado. Since their move to Boston in 2001\, the Heatons have become an integral part of Boston’s vibrant trad music scene. Shannon co-founded Boston’s Celtic music fest and served on its board for 15 years\, creating performance and mentoring opportunities for hundreds of traditional musicians and dancers. She was named Massachusetts Traditional Artist Fellow in 2016\, and she hosts the culture podcast Irish Music Stories. Matt has performed with countless ensembles\, including the Karan Casey Band\, Boys of the Lough\, and Robbie O’Connell. In addition to his work as an Irish accompanist on guitar and bouzouki\, Matt is an active performer for children and families. He has received multiple MCC grants for his engaging sing-alongs and rockabilly tinged albums. He also fronts surf-rock band Electric Heaters. Matt and Shannon have a comfortable stage presence and a warm connection with their audiences. They are world class American performers with Irish roots and universal appeal. “Their playing is masterful and inventive\, their arrangements city-smart and spacious. Still\, they never forget that Irish music is\, at its heart\, a neighborly form\, meant for sharing\, not showing off.” —The Boston Globe
