SUMMARY:Thomas Csorba
DESCRIPTION:Thomas Csorba is a songwriter who writes for the long arc — songs not just for now\, but for always.. He doesn’t chase trends or flash. Instead\, he writes with a reverence for language\, for melody\, and for the invisible threads that connect a life. Csorba already has some impressive notches on his belt\, opening for acclaimed acts like John Moreland\, Amanda Shires\, Yola\, Paul Cauthen\, Red Shahan\, Briscoe\, Parker Millsap\, and many others With several albums and EPs under his belt\, Thomas has earned respect from his peers and the press with the Houston Chronicle writing “Is Thomas Csorba the next great Texas songwriter?” Csorba has no plans to stop the steady march forward\, because for him\, this isn’t about the next big thing — it’s about the next true song. And if Windchimes is any indication\, he’s just getting to the good part.

SUMMARY:Pamela Means at Harmony on the Green\, Kim Moberg opens
DESCRIPTION:Harmony on the Green is thrilled to present a fantastic evening with two of Boston’s pre-eminent talents\, award winning singer/songwriters Pamela Means and Kim Moberg. \nPamela Means is an Easthampton MA-based\, multiple award-winning\, singer-songwriter and jazz musician. Protest anthem writing\, Biracial\, Queer\, Artist-Activist and\, “one of the fiercest guitar players and politically-rooted musicians in the industry today\,” (Curve Magazine) – who’s worn a hole in two of her guitars – with her “insanely brilliant” (Press Herald\, Portland ME) and “stark\, defiant songs.” (New York Times) \nOpening for Means is Kim Moberg\, whose rich vocals\, described as “a blend of honey and whiskey”\, gently guide listeners through her musical stories while her compositions tug at feelings of melancholy\, heartbreak\, healing and social consciousness. Moberg is an Alaska native\, who suffered a lifetime of debilitating stage fright. In 2014 she set out to overcome that stage fright and wrote her first song. Kim teamed with Grammy nominated producer Jon Evans to record three albums\, all receiving critical acclaim and charting on the Folk Alliance International DJ charts. Kim’s third release “The Seven Fires Prophecy Suite for Humanity” (2023) is an original 8 song suite that tells the ancient yet relevant Anishinaabe legend “The Seven Fires Prophecy”. Her newest project “All That Really Matters” addresses the arc of human emotion from loss and betrayal to prejudice and melancholy to the most important – love. \nHarmony on the Green is wheelchair accessible from our front door on Massachusetts Avenue. Once inside there is an elevator up to Clark Hall. We have single user accessible bathrooms on the first floor and next to the hall. Ample free parking including accessible spaces are available in the back of the building\, and there is parking on both sides of Mass Ave with one or two accessible spots. We also have two additional accessible parking spots on the side of the building. Doors open at 7 p.m.

SUMMARY:Abbie Gardner - Jenna Nichols opens
DESCRIPTION:Advance tickets are $20 for adults and $5 for those age 18 and under. Visit oldslooppresents.org\, John Tarr Store in Rockport\, or The Bookstore of Gloucester. The suggested contribution at the door is $25 for adults\, $5 for those age 18 and under\, and $50 for families. \nTickets and more information\nAbbie Gardner is a fiery dobro player with an infectious smile. Whether performing solo or with Americana harmony trio Red Molly\, her acclaimed tales of love and loss\, both gritty and sweet\, are propelled by her impeccable lap style slide guitar playing. Solo performances feature the dobro as a solo instrument\, bouncing between a solid rhythmic backbone and ripping lead lines\, all in support of her voice and songs. Her latest recording\, DobroSinger\, hit #11 on the Billboard Blues Chart. It’s intimate\, real and raw – her dobro and voice recorded at the same time at home\, without a band or any studio tricks to hide behind. You can hear every breath\, every chuckle\, as if you are in the room with her. \nHailing from the small town of Irwin\, PA\, Jenna Nicholls set her sights east to test her wings as a songwriter and performer. Initially trying Boston\, she ultimately gravitated to the creative hotbed of Manhattan’s Lower East Side where she forged lasting friendships with other like-minded artists and musicians. Nicholls made three albums on her own dime: Curled Up Toes in Red Mary Janes\, The Blooming Hour\, and Radio Parade. The albums revealed a restless muse and a theme that would be a constant for Nicholls: a love of vintage music – anything from classic music films like “Singin’ in the Rain” to Bessie Smith.

SUMMARY:Sara Grey and Kieron Means House Concert
DESCRIPTION:$20 at the door ($5 for students)\nReservations required: HouseConcerts@fssgb.org \nSara Grey is one of the most gifted and knowledgeable artists working in the field of traditional music. Sara’s singing is both powerful and sweet\, with a distinctive and lovely tremolo. It is a voice well suited to native American songs and ballads of Ireland and Scotland. \nIt is not Sara’s lovely voice alone that makes her one of the most popular singers on the folk scene; on many of her songs Sara accompanies herself by frailing a five string banjo and\, when playing dance tunes\, it is obvious why she is regarded as one of the foremost exponents of the clawhammer style. As well as singing and playing\, Sara is well known for her storytelling – specializing in stories from New England where she grew up learning many of her stories from her father. \n“She is one of a select band of performers who still breathe life into traditional ballads.” Vic Smith\, Folk Roots\n“Sara Grey has quietly and powerfully taken over the mantle of premier interpreter of American traditional music.” Tor Jonassen\, WRD \nSara grew up in New Hampshire but has lived in North Carolina\, Ohio\, Montana\, New York\, Pennsylvania\, Arizona\, Wales\, Scotland and England. As a youngster in North Carolina she developed a love for old time songs and banjo music. She cites Kyle Creed as the chief influence on her understated\, syncopated clawhammer banjo style. She has now been performing professionally for more than 30 years. \nKieron Means is a singer primarily of traditional songs but also of contemporary songs and guitar player of great merit. He has a great rapport with an audience and has an exceptional professionalism for a young performer. His voice is as smooth as silk\, rich and mellow and he sings to his audience not in spite of them. \nKieron is the son of the traditional singer Sara Grey and music journalist Andrew Means\, one time writer for Melody Maker. He was born in the United States and grew up in Britain gaining a great love of the music of both traditions as well as the contemporary scene. He has become a performer of traditional songs from the US and from the UK and many of the contemporary songs he sings he has written himself. \nHe has toured in the States and often performed with Sara Grey. In 2000 he has performed at Whitby and Wadebridge festivals where he was received with much acclaim. His first CD has received much praise with air play on Travelling Folk and Mr Anderson’s Fine Tunes both on radio Scotland. An article on him will shortly be appearing in Folk Roots magazine.

DESCRIPTION:Cabaret Seating. BYOB & Snacks. Doors Open at 7:00 PM \n$20 Members/ $22 non-members in advance ; $25 at the door (if available) \n  \n\n\n\n\nCliff Eberhardt knew by age seven that he was going to be a singer and songwriter. Growing up in Berwyn (PA)\, he and his brothers sang together and their parents played instruments. His dad introduced him to the guitar and he quickly taught himself to play. Fortunate enough to live close to the Main Point (one of the best folk clubs on the East Coast)\, he cut his teeth listening to the likes of James Taylor\, Joni Mitchell\, Bruce Springsteen\, Howlin’ Wolf\, Muddy Waters\, Bonnie Raitt\, and Mississippi John Hurt — receiving an early and impressive tutorial in acoustic music. At the same time\, he was also listening to great pop songwriters like Cole Porter\, the Gershwins\, and Rodgers and Hart\, which explain his penchant for great melodies and clever lyrical twists. After a successful whirlwind of a career in the industry\, in 2021\, Cliff released “Knew Things” – a new album of original songs which reached #4 on the Folk Alliance International’s Folk Radio Chart. Touring constantly\, Cliff is well-known as a songwriting teacher all over the U.S. at songwriting camps and private lessons. He also produces\, arranges and advises on other artist’s recordings. SUMMARY:The Mammals
DESCRIPTION:“The Mammals tell stories that are at once topical and timeless\, bearing a message of hope  and empowerment with a modern string-band sound.”\n– Freshgrass Festival \n“The Woody/Pete spirit of the 1940s-’50s can be found more vibrantly in their music than anywhere else in 2025 . . . their music deeply deserves to be heard from the redwood forest to the Gulf Stream waters.”\n– No Depression \n“A party band with a conscience”\n– Boston Globe \nIndie-roots trailblazers\, high-octane Americana from rafter-raising to hear-a-pin-drop balladry.\nThere has always been something disarmingly human about The Mammals. Long before culture fractured into its current bewildering kaleidoscope of noise and contradiction\, they were already tending to the quiet\, essential work: remembering the stories that hold people together\, and singing them with an honesty that resists corrosion. Their music feels less like performance and more like a gathering—a return to the communal spaces where truth is spoken gently\, without spectacle. \nFormed by Mike Merenda and Ruth Ungar\, The Mammals emerged from the fertile soil of folk tradition\, but not as preservationists. They listened closely to the past but their instinct was always restorative rather than nostalgic. They carried forward the lineage of protest music\, family harmony\, and grassroots resilience\, weaving them into something alive\, awake\, and stunningly contemporary. Their songs carry the emotional clarity of people who understand what is at stake—not just politically\, but spiritually\, culturally\, even ecologically. \nThe Mammals make music for a world that is forgetting how to listen. In their harmonies is a reminder that truth is rarely loud\, that connection can be a form of resistance\, and that art—when rooted in sincerity—can help us navigate even the most unsettled times.\nIn an era defined by fracture\, The Mammals remain devoted to wholeness: to the places they sing about\, the communities they nurture\, and the fragile\, enduring human spirit at the center of it all. \nFrom https://www.themammals.love/about

SUMMARY:Richard Shindell
DESCRIPTION:Innovative\, original and occasionally spiritual\, Shindell’s songs weave tales that interchangeably champion the downtrodden\, exalt the disaffected or wax empathetic to those lost to society’s fringes. From lighthearted ballads and adulterous love songs\, to dirges and diatribes that skillfully skewer politics\, prejudice\, war and religion\, to the comic point-of-view of a cow stuck in a barbed wire fence\, he has a unique ability to morph into the soul of the many and varied personalities he casts as narrators in certain songs—veritable novellas framed in haunting acoustic melodies.

Some examples are the song “I Didn’t Know that You Owned This Road” about driving in Boston or “I’m Going to be a Park Ranger”\, which is a wistful fantasy about a job change. Cooke Family Singers’ other songs are curated covers that feature Ruth and Frances’ tight harmonies and can range from Lake St. Dive to Johnny Cash to songs from the musical “Hamilton”. They perform at porch fests and other musical events in the Northeast.  During the pandemic\, the Singers did a biweekly series of online “hootenanny’s” that were broadcast on Facebook.  The Cooke Family Singers felt it was a small way to try to build some sense of community during a very difficult time.  They are looking forward to participating in the Friday Folk Coffeehouse Series on Friday\, May 15\, 2026. Their music can be found on George’s Bandcamp site: https://georgecooke.bandcamp.com/ \nFirst Church and Parish Dedham Unitarian Universalist was first gathered in 1638 and is located in Dedham Center at 670 High Street. Its lively music program includes choir at Sunday services\, and the Parish Players theater troupe\, in addition to our Friday Folk Coffeehouse events.
