SUMMARY:Tom Rush
DESCRIPTION:PFM celebrating 30 years!!!!!!  \nWe are honored and thrilled to have Tom Rush\, one of our longest standing performers in the Monadnock region\, open our 30th season. \nTom Rush is a gifted musician and performer\, whose shows offer a musical celebration…a journey into the tradition and spectrum of what music has been\, can be\, and will become. His distinctive guitar style\, wry humor and warm\, expressive voice have made him both a legend and a lure to audiences around the world. His shows are filled with the rib-aching laughter of terrific story-telling\, the sweet melancholy of ballads and the passion of gritty blues. \nRush’s impact on the American music scene has been profound. He helped shape the folk revival in the ’60s and the renaissance of the ’80s and ’90s\, his music having left its stamp on generations of artists. James Taylor told Rolling Stone\, “Tom was not only one of my early heroes\, but also one of my main influences.” Country music star Garth Brooks has credited Rush with being one of his top five musical influences. Rush has long championed emerging artists. His early recordings introduced the world to the work of Joni Mitchell\, Jackson Browne and James Taylor\, and in more recent years his Club 47® concerts have brought artists such as Nanci Griffith and Shawn Colvin to wider audiences when they were just beginning to build their own reputations. \nhttps://www.tomrush.com/

SUMMARY:Laurie MacAllister - March 14\, 2026 (A second Saturday event)
DESCRIPTION:In late 2024\, Laurie MacAllister embarked on an exciting new chapter\, launching a solo career with a sold-out performance at the legendary Club Passim. \nTwo decades earlier\, she co-founded the beloved Americana trio Red Molly\, which released seven acclaimed albums and toured both the U.S. and internationally\, including appearances at MerleFest\, Cayamo\, and Boston Symphony Hall. \nAlong the way\, ad executives heard Laurie’s voice on the Red Molly album “Never Been to Vegas” and invited her to sing the iconic Folgers Coffee jingle for a national TV commercial. \nHer 2018 self-produced solo album “The Lies the Poets Tell” is a heartfelt tribute to the contemporary folk music scene\, celebrating a handful of its best songs and songwriters. It features duets with six male artists\, including the late Americana master Jimmy LaFave. SiriusXM praised the album as “Defining. A curated collection packed with emotional vibrancy.” \nLaurie’s earlier solo album “The Things I Choose To Do” was produced by folk luminary Cliff Eberhardt and was first released independently. Hearing it\, Barnes & Noble re-released it as an exclusive on their label\, saying\, “MacAllister wholly inhabits these songs as subtly as a chameleon\, convincingly taking on the persona’s skin\, quite simply singing her heart out.” \nFrom a young girl with a quiet dream of becoming a singer\, Laurie’s journey has unfolded one song at a time. Over more than two decades\, she’s made her dream into a reality. \nLaurie has announced her Solo Debut Tour\, headlining shows in 2025 across the Northeast\, bringing her soulful\, loving voice and presence to fans old and new.

SUMMARY:Friday Folk Coffeehouse Presents Crowes Pasture on 3/20!
DESCRIPTION:First Church Friday Folk Coffeehouse presents its 7th concert of the 2025-2026 season featuring the Crowes Pasture at First Church and Parish Dedham 670 High Street\, Dedham on Friday\, March 20\, 2026 at 7:30 pm in the Auditorium. There will be refreshments for purchase.  Tickets are $15 and are available online at Folk Coffeehouse | dedhamuu and at the door.  Doors open at 7:00 pm.  In case of inclement weather\, this concert might be canceled the day before the performance. For information about a potential cancellation\, please check Live Music | dedhamuu . \nWe love the origin story of Crowes Pasture\, which is Andy Rogovin and Monique Byrne. The couple was putting one of their children to bed. They sang a song and broke into quiet harmony to fill out the lullaby. As they carefully closed the door on the sleeping child\, they looked at each other and said\, “That was fun.” \nThey have been serious about that fun ever since. Lots of original music\, three albums and two EPs later\, they have won an international acoustic music award\, received numerous folk music award nominations and can be found touring on both coasts\, Canada and in the UK. One of the things we love about this duo is the way they take a look at what’s happening around them\, and to them\, when they write songs. But they love a good cover\, too: Bob Dylan\, Bruce Springsteen\, Woody Guthrie. You’ll find their music rooted in the folk tradition that speaks to hearts that are joyful\, broken\, and longing for peace and justice. They know there’s poetry in whatever is right here\, right now. And the harmonies just keep coming. \nFirst Church and Parish Dedham Unitarian Universalist was first gathered in 1638 and is located in Dedham Center at 670 High Street. Its lively music program includes choir at Sunday services\, and the Parish Players theater troupe\, in addition to our Friday Folk Coffeehouse events.

SUMMARY:Della Mae
DESCRIPTION:Peterborough Folk Music is excited to be on Della Mae’s CD Release Tour and brought back to The Park Theater by popular demand.\nABOUT: \nEach generation\, perhaps once a decade\, bluegrass experiences a band or an artist that redefines and recenters the genre itself. Della Mae is one such band. \nThe GRAMMY-nominated string band was founded in 2010 and over the next decade and a half they’ve demonstrated to the roots music world\, once and for all\, that a band of all women is not\, nor has ever been\, a mere novelty. They remain at the forefront of the explosion of women instrumentalists and all-women acts in roots music and their impact is striking and measurable – not just in North America\, but around the globe. \nNow 15 years since their origin\, Della Mae can boast their strongest lineup yet. Founders Kimber Ludiker and Celia Woodsmith are joined by guitarist and songwriter Avril Smith and vocalist and two-time IBMA Bass Player of the Year Vickie Vaughn. \nThere has never been a band like Della Mae in roots music before\, but thanks to Kimber Ludiker\, Celia Woodsmith\, Avril Smith\, Vickie Vaughn – and all of the women who have been part of this band over its long life – we know there will be many more bands\, singers\, songwriters\, and pickers just like Della Mae in the future. \nhttps://www.dellamae.com \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
