SUMMARY:CANCELLED - Annie Raines & Paul Rishell
DESCRIPTION:Due to concerns with the water in Mansfield and other matters out of our control\, this show is CANCELLED. Refunds have been issued on EventBrite. If you have not been notified\, you will be shortly. If you have questions\, reach out to steve@rosegardenfolk.com. We hope we can rebook Annie & Paul for another date\, either this season or next. Sorry for the inconvenience. …Steve \n  \nRishell and Raines\, hailed as one of the world’s best blues duos\, will perform at the Rose Garden Coffeehouse\, 17 West St.\, Mansfield\, at 8 p.m. Saturday\, Sept. 17. Tickets $20 in advance\, $25 at the door. \nFor 29 years Paul Rishell & Annie Raines have been hailed as one of the world’s best blues duos. They have recorded 6 albums together including the W.C. Handy Award-winning Moving to the Country (2000)\, and received numerous award nominations from the Blues Foundation. They have performed and recorded with John Sebastian\, Susan Tedeschi\, Pinetop Perkins and Rory Block. They have opened for Ray Charles\, Dr. John\, and Little Feat\, and performed on international radio and TV shows including Late Night with Conan O’Brien and A Prairie Home Companion. They continue to perform American roots music and their own compositions at festivals\, concert halls\, and clubs all over the world. As a working team\, Paul and Annie have racked up hundreds of thousands of miles on the road in the U.S. and Europe\, collaborated on original songs\, and released the Blues Foundation Award nominated TALKING GUITAR \, I WANT YOU TO KNOW (Tone-Cool/Artemis 1996)\, MOVING TO THE COUNTRY (2000)\, the W.C. Handy Award winner for Acoustic Blues Album of the Year\, and GOIN’ HOME (2004)\, which was nominated for two Handy Awards. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nPaul Rishell and Annie Raines’s sixth project together\, TALKING GUITAR was released in 2012 and received 2 Nominations for the Blues Foundation’s Blues Music Awards. It features Paul returning to the bare essence of country blues\, with stunning solo performances of gems by Lead Belly\, Blind Boy Fuller\, Skip James and others\, with Annie joining in on a few tunes. It is stark\, stripped down and intimate. Their previous album\, the live recording “A NIGHT IN WOODSTOCK” was released in 2008 as a CD and in 2009 as a DVD on their own Mojo Rodeo label\, and distributed internationally by Burnside Distribution\, each release earning multiple Blues Music Award nominations. The live concert features special guests John Sebastian\, Bruce Katz\, and Paul and Annie’s own backing band joining the duo for an eclectic\, high-energy set of acoustic and electric originals and classic blues songs. The DVD includes extra features such as artist biographies\, video guitar lessons and audio commentary by Rishell\, Raines and Sebastian. \nPaul and Annie are equally passionate about their craft and devoted to the study and performance of a wide range of blues styles\, from the syncopated acoustic guitar wizardry of Blind Lemon Jefferson and Son House to Chicagoan “Little” Walter Jacob’s swinging amplified harmonica. Paul has reached what Boston Phoenix writer Ted Drozdowski called “a place deep and resonant as Robert Johnson’s crossroads\, where authenticity\, soul\, and a sense of purpose and commitment ring out in every note he sings and plays.” Annie has added vocals\, mandolin\, piano\, and other instruments to her musical arsenal\, while being recognized by top professionals and fans worldwide as the “queen of the blues harmonica.” Says blues legend Pinetop Perkins\, “She plays so good it hurts!” \nTouring internationally at festivals\, clubs\, and concert halls\, and teaching workshops and seminars\, Paul Rishell & Annie Raines have earned loyal fans around the globe. Paul and Annie are featured in the new jug band music documentary\, Chasin’ Gus’ Ghost\, which debuted at the San Francisco Film Festival in August 2007. They have performed on diverse radio and TV shows including A Prairie Home Companion\, Late Night with Conan O’Brien\, and PBS’s Arthur. They have performed and recorded with Susan Tedeschi\, John Sebastian\, Pinetop Perkins\, and Rory Block. Susan Tedeschi recorded an “unplugged” version of Paul’s Blues on a Holiday with Paul and Annie for her 2003 release\, Wait For Me. \nAnnie Raines was born in 1969 in Boston and grew up in the suburb of Newton\, Massachusetts. She picked up the blues harp at 17 and made her stage debut at the 1369 Jazz Club in Cambridge a few months before her high school graduation. Enthralled by the recordings of Muddy Waters\, Little Walter Jacobs\, Big Walter Horton and Sonny Boy Williamson\, she became a fixture at Boston area blues jams. She briefly attended Antioch College and 1988 interned with Washington\, DC homeless rights activist Mitch Snyder\, who persuaded her to drop out of school to pursue her musical career. One of the few female blues harmonica players in the country\, Annie played the New England club circuit with local bands\, and traveled to Chicago where she met and played with many of her musical idols including Pinetop Perkins\, Louis Myers\, and James Cotton. She also enjoyed yearlong stints with the Tarbox Ramblers and the Susan Tedeschi Band\, going on to perform on Susan’s first three albums. She lives in Boston with her number one musical hero\, Paul Rishell. \nPaul Rishell was born in Brooklyn\, New York in 1950\, descended from a long line of Methodist preachers and Norwegian painters. At the age of ten\, he discovered that he could keep time on the drums\, though his feet didn’t reach the pedals. He started a band a few years later\, playing surf music and rock ‘n roll\, until a friend turned him on to the country blues records of Son House\, Robert Johnson\, Charley Patton\, and Blind Lemon Jefferson. He immediately took up the guitar and in the early 70’s Paul moved to Cambridge\, Massachusetts and had the chance to play with many of the first and second generation of blues masters — including Son House\, Johnny Shines\, Sonny Terry\, Brownie McGhee\, and Howlin’ Wolf. Paul Rishell’s debut recording\, BLUES ON A HOLIDAY (Tone-Cool) was released in 1990 to resounding critical acclaim. The album was half acoustic\, half electric\, and established Paul as a masterful\, versatile blues player and as well as a deeply soulful singer and songwriter. He followed that with SWEAR TO TELL THE TRUTH in 1993\, which featured heart-stopping solo performances as well as guest artists Ronnie Earl and the Broadcasters and “Little”Annie Raines. Paul’s original music has been used in plays\, films\, and countless television shows including Friends\, Oprah\, and A&E’s Biography. He has built up a stellar reputation over 40 years as a performer\, teacher\, and torchbearer of the country blues tradition. His former students include Susan Tedeschi and Michael Tarbox. Dirt Road Blues\, Paul’s instructional video/CD-Rom for Truefire.com\, was released in 2008 with detailed demonstrations and transcriptions of his original songs and songs by Scrapper Blackwell\, Blind Boy Fuller\, and many others. He is currently serving as a visiting artist at Berklee College of Music in Boston.

SUMMARY:Friday Folk Coffeehouse presents Jonathan Pape and the Wilson Mountain Skyline Ramblers
DESCRIPTION:Friday Coffee House at First Church Dedham \n670 High Street\, Dedham\, MA \n(781) 326-7463 \nContact: Geoff Tegnell \nFirst Church Friday Coffee House presents its first concert of the 2022-2023 season featuring singer/songwriter Jonathan Pape and the Wilson Mountain Skyline Ramblers at First Church and Parish Dedham 670 High Street\, Dedham on Friday September 23rd 2022 at 8:00 pm in the Auditorium. There will be refreshments for purchase in the dining room. Tickets are $5 available at the door.  Doors open at 7:30 pm. \nJonathan Pape does not consider himself a musical lifer. Nor does he consider himself a hobbyist. He has learned from Neil Young\, REM\, Concrete Blonde and the late Mark Lanegan (Screaming Trees) to let music be there when he needs it. He has taken his songs out of town and kept them close to home. His Dad once wrote to him that his songs are personal. Very personal. He said they feel like they have a lot to do with the warm\, moist\, under-the-covers moments of true relationships. Old ones. New ones. And the kind you only dream about with someone\, just out of reach. Pape’s last solo record “Every Five Years” can be found on your favorite streaming service and he continues to work on his next one in the moments between being a father and a husband. \nThe Wilson Mountain Skyline Ramblers include Cindy Thames (mandolin)\, Gene Favret (dobro)\, Jed Mehegan (banjo\, guitar)\, Tim Parke (guitar). They are all Boston area Bluegrass lovers who met picking and singing at the monthly Dedham School of Music Bluegrass jams. \nFirst Church and Parish Dedham Unitarian Universalst was first gathered in 1638 and is located in Dedham Center at 670 High Street. Its lively music program includes its choir at Sunday services\, the Parish Players theater troupe and the Concerts at First Church concert series in addition to our Friday Coffee House events.

SUMMARY:Hubby Jenkins at Linden Tree's Season Opener-- Ed Britt Memorial Banjo Bash
DESCRIPTION:LINDEN TREE COFFEEHOUSE.  38TH SEASON OPENER  SEPTEMBER 24\, 2022 \nTHE ED BRITT MEMORIAL BANJO BASH  featuring multi-instrumentalist HUBBY JENKINS \nOn September 24th\, the Linden Tree Coffeehouse  at the Unitarian-Universalist Church of Wakefield will open its 38th season with a very special memorial concert to Ed Britt\, Linden Tree’s founder\, banjo historian\, and long-time Linden Tree sound engineer. The highlight of the evening will be Hubby Jenkins\, a talented multi-instrumentalist formally of the Carolina Chocolate Drops and a member of Rhiannon Giddens Band.  A number of area musicians will also perform in tribute to Britt.  The show will begin at 7:30 pm. Doors open at 7.  Masks are highly recommended for the safety of our performers\, our volunteers\, and our audience. A recording of the event may be available later on\, but not that night so plan to attend in person. \nHubby Jenkins endeavors to share his love and knowledge of old-time American music. Born and raised in Brooklyn he delved into his Southern roots\, following the thread of African American history that wove itself through country blues\, ragtime\, fiddle and banjo\, and traditional jazz. Hubby got his higher musical education started as a busker. He developed his guitar and vocal craft on the sidewalks and subway platforms of New York City\, performing material by those venerable artists whose work he was quickly absorbing. An ambitiously itinerant musician\, he took his show on the road\, playing the streets\, coffee shops\, bars\, and house parties of cities around the U.S. \nAfter years of busking around the country and making a name for himself\, Hubby became acquainted with the Carolina Chocolate Drops. He was an integral part of the Grammy award winning Carolina Chocolate Drops (2010 – 2016)\, as well as a member of Rhiannon Giddens band. Today he spreads his knowledge and love of old-time American music and history through his dynamic solo performances. \nThe Banjo Bash will include some area musicians with words and songs they know Ed always enjoyed. Expected to celebrate are Jim Bradley\, Paul Harty\, and Bill Knott\, who were three-fourths of the Linden Tree house band\, The Blunt Instruments.  Other local folks planning to attend are Ken Perlman\, Gail Finnie\, John Reddick\, Linda Abrams\, Rich Stillman\, and Tim Rowell. Kev G. Moore\, composer of the Linden Tree anthem\, Church with No Steeple\, who dedicated his original song to Ed Britt will also be performing. \nEd Britt died February 18\, 2021 from complications due to Alzheimer’s disease. He was a skilled industrial designer and designed products ranging from consumer goods to medical equipment. He was employed by Digital Equipment Corporation as well as a design consulting firm and eventually opened his own industrial design consulting firm\, Edmund Britt & Co. In addition to his love for his family\, Ed’s passion in life was music. He was a world-renowned banjo historian and collector\, as well as a gifted player of both banjo and guitar. He loved being part of the banjo community\, attending events and sharing his knowledge. He displayed his banjo playing skills at the annual Banjo and Fiddle Contest in Lowell\, MA\, winning multiple times. Ed was heavily involved in the Boston folk music scene. He was one of the founders of the Linden Tree Coffeehouse in Wakefield in 1985 and ran their sound system for decades. He was a member of the Blunt Instruments\, a folk quartet that played at a variety of community events and were regulars at the Linden Tree. Ed combined his professional skills and love for music by designing beautiful instruments for the OME Banjo Company and C. F. Martin & Company. After retiring\, Ed enjoyed spending time with his musician friends\, street performing in Harvard Square and playing at the Wakefield and Melrose farmers markets. \nSeveral years ago\, following a health scare\, Ed shared the following quote with friends\, which summarizes how he lived his life: “I’ve simply tried to go through my life leaving the world a better place than I found it-and hopefully having helped more people than I hurt.” Ed was never shy to show his love to those around him. The best way to honor Ed’s memory is to reach out and tell the people in your life how much they mean to you. Ed’s kindness\, creativity\, interest in others\, and enthusiasm for life touched many people. He will be greatly missed by his wife Lillian\, daughters Rachel and Ali\,  and  many other family and friends \nThe Linden Tree Coffeehouse is located in the social hall of the Unitarian-Universalist Church of Wakefield\, at 326 Main St. Wakefield\, MA 01880.  The Linden Tree Coffeehouse operates\, in part\, with thanks to partial support from Wakefield’s Art Council of the Massachusetts Cultural Council. Tickets will be sold at the door $20\, for those under 13 $10. We accept Cash or checks. Other donations may be given through the Linden Tree Coffeehouse  Pay Pal account.   For more information: 781-246-2836\,   www.LindenTreeCoffeehouse.org \n  \n

SUMMARY:** CANCELED ** Cheryl Wheeler and Kenny White
DESCRIPTION:Cheryl Wheeler \nWe are very excited to be able to reschedule a concert with Cheryl Wheeler and Kenny White. Let’s all come out and support her return to Peterborough after a few difficult years we’ve all gone through. \n“Cheryl Wheeler has to be seen to be appreciated. Nothing you read and nothing you hear from her albums prepares you for how good a performer she is. \n“If your idea of a folk singer/songwriter concert is a bunch of people clapping politely after songs\, and then sitting quietly while the performer says things like “This next song is about …”\, well\, you’ve never seen a Cheryl Wheeler concert before.  ” \n“Cheryl’s songs are often emotional portraits of people\, leaving you with the impression that you know the characters. You find yourself being dragged into the song rather than standing outside and observing. Other songs by Cheryl are hilarious situation comedies. \n“You may not be familiar with Cheryl\, but you have probably heard her music. She is very respected as a songwriter by her peers\, which can be seen by how many of them record her songs. Chery’s songs have been covered by artists as diverse as Dan Seals\, Peter Paul and Mary\, Kenny Loggins\, Garth Brooks\, Suzy Boggus\, Melanie\, Bette Midler\, Maura O’Connell\, Sylvia\, Kathy Mattea\, and Holly Near. If they think she is great\, then you owe it to yourself to learn more if you aren’t familiar with her. \n“From her albums you can tell that she is a gifted songwriter with a beautiful voice. From other people’s comments about her you can learn that she is a natural story teller with a fantastic sense of humor. But until you see her in person\, you never really believe what you’ve been told about her. Besides\, almost half of the songs she does during her shows haven’t been recorded!” \nCheryl’s concerts are more like what you would find at a comedy club than expect to find at a folk music concert. “She will tell a story that has you rolling in the aisles\, and then sing a song that leaves you wiping tears from your eyes. She will talk about some serious current event\, and then sing a song that will have you howling with laughter. Her entire concert is an emotional roller coaster.” \nhttp://www.cherylwheeler.com/home/bio.html \n  \nKenny White \n“I’d have to say that Kenny White has earned a place among my favorite singer/songwriters … and particularly\, lyricists.  As we say in the trade ‘he goes deep.’   A true wordsmith AND musician who reveals a fine sense of humor\, as well. Put on your headphones and listen carefully.” \n…David Crosby \n“Kenny White is a quadruple threat – a singer\, songwriter\, pianist and producer with a knack for summing-up the human condition in half a song verse or less. (Take the lyrics “So you might as well put it on the line once in awhile\, Maybe leave something more than ashes in a pile\,” from his song “Five Girls.” Need we say more?”

SUMMARY:Pierre Bensusan
DESCRIPTION:Back in 1974\, Pierre Bensusan (www.pierrebensusan.com) was cutting his teeth as a performer on the folk scene in Paris and other cities in France when one of his idols\, banjo great Bill Keith\, offered him his first official paying gig ever touring Western Europe with his bluegrass band. The French-Algerian upstart\, humbly launching a four decade career was hired to play mandolin. But when Keith heard his groundbreaking approach to the acoustic guitar\, he decided to allow Bensusan a few key spotlights on that instrument. \nDecades later\, when Bensusan was looking for potential finishing touches for “Encore”\, his ambitious and expansive retrospective collection celebrating 40 years as a globetrotting live performer\, he discovered a reel to reel tape with a Swiss National Radio recording of a concert in Lausanne from that tour. While the tireless troubadour’s original plan for the 3-CD set was to include tracks recorded between 1998 and 2013 in France\, Canada\, Ireland\, Austria and especially the U.S. (where he regularly records)\, Bensusan decided to round out the 35-track set by starting “Disc 2” with a set of five titles from this show\, including two bluegrass songs. \nIn all\, Encore features 11 tracks never previously released commercially in any form. \nEngineered in Los Angeles by Grammy winner Rich Breen\, Encore also includes a handful of songs featuring Bensusan’s beautiful French language vocals (“Cordilliere” and “Pas Sage\,” among others) and wordless vocalese (“Bamboul’hiver”); two cuts with future Dream Theater keyboardist Jordan Rudess from a commissioned 1998 concert in Northern France that included a 200-piece children’s choir (including the previously unreleased “Anthem For The Ocean”); and the 18-minute setpiece “Celtic Medley.” In all\, Encore features 11 tracks never previously released commercially in any form. \nhttp://www.pierrebensusan.com  \nhttp://www.facebook.com/pierrebensusan \nhttps://twitter.com/pbensusan \nhttp://www.youtube.com/user/bensusanhq

DESCRIPTION:Advance tickets are $20 for adults and $5 for those age 18 and under. The suggested contribution at the door is $25 for adults\, $5 for those age 18 and under\, and $50 for families. Click here for tickets or more information. \nThe winner of the 2022 NPR Tiny Desk Contest\, Alisa Amador’s music is a synthesis of the many styles she’s voraciously absorbed: rock\, jazz\, funk and alternative folk\, all wrapped in the spirit of the Latin music she grew up with. NPR’s Cyrena Touros calls her “a pitch-perfect rendition of my wildest dreams\,” and NPR’s Bob Boilen calls Alisa “a powerful voice whose tender performance commands attention and fosters connection.” Alisa has opened for such artists as Lake Street Dive\, Madison Cunningham\, Watchhouse\, and countless others. Alisa’s soulful singing\, poetically incisive lyrics\, and syncopated rhythms are likely to make you cry\, laugh\, and dance all within one set. Alisa released her debut EP\, Narratives\, in 2021. \n“Nothing’s wrong\, I just feel the whole wide world\,” award-winning songwriter Hayley Sabella sings on Sorrow:Joy\, a track from her new album Flew The Nest. Hayley has become known for this kind of simplicity in truth-telling\, combining poetic lyrics with gripping melodies that are “sometimes cold and deadly\, other times refreshing and full of life.” (Rolling Stone Country)

SUMMARY:Mark Femino & Marnie Hall
DESCRIPTION:Mark Femino is a seasoned\, realized musician. He’s at the peak of his musicianship\, and is poised to get all his material out into the world. To that end\, he is currently releasing a hard rock album called Ferilus – “Fearless\, feral\, and slightly perilous\, this is the album known as Ferilus.” This album goes all the way back to Mark’s days of hammering it out with garage rock bands. It was incredibly fun for him to make\, a little dirty\, and very powerful. If you have been in need of a solid\, throw down the gauntlet\, and rock your socks off album\, this one might just do the trick.\n \nNot interested in resting on this release\, another more acoustic album entitled\, These Are The Moments is already finished and set to release in the late fall. \nMarnie Hall is a classically-trained electric violinist\, string arranger and solo artist who has performed\, taught and recorded in the Boston area since 1995.Marnie has played in the backing and touring orchestras for The Moody Blues\, Joni Mitchell\, Brian Wilson\, The Irish Tenors and Johnny Mathis. Most recently\, she has opened for Cyndi Lauper\, Andy Grammer and Kelly Clarkson\, and was nominated for Session Musician of the Year by the 2019 Boston Music Awards. She is currently releasing the next single from her upcoming debut album\, Talk To You Soon.

SUMMARY:Linden Tree presents Grace Morrison & Connor Garvey Live in Concert
DESCRIPTION:Linden Tree presents Grace Morrison & Connor Garvey Live in Concert \nThe Linden Tree Coffeehouse’s 38th season continues with two regional singer-songwriters who have been receiving national notice:  Massachusetts’ Grace Morrison and Maine’s Connor Garvey.  The Saturday\, November 5th concert will begin at 7:30 pm in the social hall of the Unitarian-Universalist Church in Wakefield. \nAlthough Grace Morrison spent much of her musical career away from the spotlight\, in recent years she has been discovered as a very talented singer-songwriter including a special gig at Nashville’s famous Bluebird .  With new album\, Daughter\, Morrison establishes herself as a confident\, refreshing voice in country-pop. The 12-song collection is certain to find favor with fans of the storytelling and delivery of Jewel and Lisa Loeb\, as well as with those who enjoy singing along with Boyz II Men on their car stereo. Morrison displays an ability to embody a number of characters over the course of Daughter\, from that of the title track\, to loner\, to confidant\, to partier\, to the restless rambler seeking an escape from small-town life\, and finally\, to mother. \nA formidable instrumentalist\, Morrison capably handles far more than lead vocal duties\, rocking out on electric guitar on the pulsing “Put the Bottle Down\,” and playing acoustic throughout the album\, as well as contributing background vocals\, piano\, banjo\, and synth. Our audience will hear some songs from her upcoming 2023 CD\, “Mostly Modern\,” produced in Austin. \nMorrison has won a number of prestigious awards including the Grand Prize of the New England Songwriting Competition and the WPRI Rhode Show Big Break contest where her music video was played on the season finale of American Idol. In 2019\, Grace was selected to be an Official Showcase performer at the Southeast Regional Folk Alliance (TN)\, the Southwest Regional Folk Alliance (TX)\, named a finalist in the Wildflower (TX) Festival performing singer-songwriter contest\, and selected to perform in the Emerging Artist Showcase at the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival (NY). Her sophomore solo album\, Reasons\, debuted at #2 on the Roots Music Report’s Top 50 Contemporary Country Airplay Chart. \nConnor Garvey is an award-winning singer-songwriter from Portland\, Maine\, with the amiable presence of an entertainer\, the lyrical depth of a poet\, and the enchantment of a storyteller. Garvey leaves audiences uplifted and inspired through a positive message delivered in a way The Portland Press Herald says proves you can be optimistic and self-aware without being boring. His unique sandy tenor and masterful blend of rhythm and melody draw comparison to Paul Simon and contemporaries Josh Ritter and Jason Mraz. He wins song competitions. He fills rooms. But most of all he moves people. \nFirst time listeners often are drawn to Garvey’s engaging performance style\, accomplished musicianship\, and memorable melodies. But his lyrics project a depth and sincerity that allow the observant listener to find meaning beyond the catchy hook. Meanwhile\, the intricate production of his albums adds emotional depth and keeps the songs fresh play after play. \nThis combination of songwriting and performance strength has earned Garvey numerous awards including being named winner of the Kerrville New Folk\, Rocky Mountain Folks Fest\, SolarFest\, Wildflower Art and Music Festival and Maine Songwriters Association songwriting competitions\, voted as Most Wanted artist at the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival\, nominated for Best Male Performer in the New England Music Awards\, and a top new singer songwriter by Sirius XM’s The Coffeehouse. \nTickets for those attending are $20\,  cash or check at the door.  Please reserve your seats by calling 781-246-2836. Masks recommended but not required.  Bottled beverages and wrapped snacks are currently available. \nOur previous streaming shows\, including last month’s Squeezebox Stompers\, are still available for viewing on our YouTube and Facebook pages linked from our home page: www.LindenTreeCoffeehouse.org \nThe Linden Tree Coffeehouse operates\, in part\, with thanks to partial support from Wakefield’s Arts Council of the Massachusetts Cultural Council. With engaging stage presence and masterfully-crafted music\, Boston-based Matt and Shannon Heaton offer well-travelled Irish music from the heart. Steeped in sessions in County Clare and brewed in the acoustic music scenes of Chicago and Boston\, their flute/guitar/bouzouki instrumentals and sweet husband-and-wife harmony singing draw deeply from the Irish tradition. The Heatons also gently incorporate the Thai music Shannon learned as a kid and rootsy Americana sounds that surrounded them during their three years in bluegrass-haven Boulder\, Colorado. Since their move to Boston in 2001\, the Heatons have become an integral part of Boston’s vibrant trad music scene. Shannon co-founded Boston’s Celtic music fest and served on its board for 15 years\, creating performance and mentoring opportunities for hundreds of traditional musicians and dancers. She was named Massachusetts Traditional Artist Fellow in 2016\, and she hosts the culture podcast Irish Music Stories. Matt has performed with countless ensembles\, including the Karan Casey Band\, Boys of the Lough\, and Robbie O’Connell. In addition to his work as an Irish accompanist on guitar and bouzouki\, Matt is an active performer for children and families. He has received multiple MCC grants for his engaging sing-alongs and rockabilly tinged albums. He also fronts surf-rock band Electric Heaters. Matt and Shannon have a comfortable stage presence and a warm connection with their audiences. They are world class American performers with Irish roots and universal appeal. “Their playing is masterful and inventive\, their arrangements city-smart and spacious. Still\, they never forget that Irish music is\, at its heart\, a neighborly form\, meant for sharing\, not showing off.” —The Boston Globe
