SUMMARY:Rani Arbo and Daisy Mayhem
DESCRIPTION:QUOTES:\n“One of America’s most inventive string bands” — The Boston Herald \n“Rani Arbo & daisy mayhem dig deep into their collective souls\, finding joy in the moment\, peace in the harmonies\, and rapture in the rhythmic drive.” — Hartford Courant \n“Effortless and loose…” — Acoustic Guitar Magazine \nBIO:\nHarmony\, rhythm\, indelible songs – these are the hallmarks of Rani Arbo & daisy mayhem\, the New England based folk quartet now in its 20th year. From the Newport Folk Festival to California World Music Festival and beyond\, this band’s steadfast brew of wit\, camaraderie\, and musicality leaves audiences everywhere humming and hopeful\, spirits renewed. \nRani Arbo & daisy mayhem are Rani Arbo (fiddle\, guitar)\, Andrew Kinsey (bass\, banjo\, ukulele)\, Anand Nayak (electric and acoustic guitars) and Scott Kessel (percussion). At the helm\, Arbo is “blessed with an unmistakable voice\, both light RANI ARBO & DAISY MAYHEM and sultry\, with a hint of tremolo and smoke” (Acoustic Guitar). With Kinsey and Nayak’s vibrant baritones and Kessel’s resonant bass\, the band’s signature lockstep harmonies can shake the rafters or hush the room. Arbo’s fiddle is sweet and sinewy\, while Nayak’s guitar stretches across genre lines. Kinsey’s old-time bass anchors the deep groove of Kessel’s homemade percussion kit — a truly funky collection of cardboard boxes\, tin cans\, caulk tubes\, packing-tape tambourines\, bottle-cap rattles\, Mongolian jaw harps\, and a vinyl suitcase. \nIn the lineage of string bands who blur the boundaries of American roots music\, Rani Arbo & daisy mayhem have always been standard-bearers\, with a particular knack for pairing words and music. From bluegrass barnstormers to sultry swing\, old-time gospel to bluesy folk-rock\, they consistently turn in lush arrangements with “stylish\, unexpected choices” (Acoustic Guitar). Original songs fit seamlessly aside artful re-workings of Georgia Sea Islands music\, Hank Williams\, Leonard Cohen\, Bruce Springsteen — just a few of the many places this band is willing to go. Writes Maverick Magazine\, “How refreshing to hear something that sounds as if it has come from people who are genuinely original thinkers. \nAs soon as Rani Arbo & daisy mayhem strike up\, you realize this is a band that is unpredictable and impossible to pigeonhole. But\, what a thoroughly mellifluous melange — sophisticated\, soulful and always handled with care and a lightness of touch that is part folk/jazz/ country\, part blues/old time\, and all good. There is a togetherness that flows right through the heart of the performance. It never gets too clever and always remains understated and classy.”   https://www.raniarbo.com/toolkit/radm-one-sheet-7/

The two have been playing and writing music together for as long as they can remember. They first entered the Americana music scene in 2012 as part of the internationally touring grass-roots band The Lonely Heartstring Band\, with which they released two albums on Rounder Records. Accomplished musicians and seasoned performers\, George played the role of Paul Simon in the hit national act ‘The Simon and Garfunkel Story’ while Charles can often be found in the bass section of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. \nRachel Sumner & Traveling Light are a Boston-based string band making music that blends folk tradition with feminist storytelling\, poetic detail\, and just enough grit. The trio features Kat Wallace on fiddle and vocals and Mike Siegel on upright bass and vocals. Their playing brings both tension and tenderness to the sound. Sumner was the 2025 Telluride Bluegrass Band Contest winner and was a 2024 winner of the Kerrville New Folk competition.

SUMMARY:Open Mic Night at The Music Mansion
DESCRIPTION:Over the last couple years we have tried a lot of things on our open mic stage. In Season 42\, we held workshops for developing musicians. in Season 43\, we invited hosts of other open mics around the state to feature on our stage. We trained new sound engineers only to forgo all the tech. It’s now musicians and audiences in a room together – a room designed for music to flow and flourish. \nEd Dean returns as our open mic host\, opening the doors to The Music Mansion. It’s a welcoming environment for beginners\, new artists\, and veteran local musicians. The Open Mic Series is one of the ways we practice what we preach and Ed is an  incredible minister for this community. Hope to see you there.

SUMMARY:Garnet Rogers
DESCRIPTION:QUOTES\n“Garnet Rogers is capable of awe-inspiring and unpredictable stuff – and that includes more than just music” \nABOUT\nIn a darkened bedroom\, lit only by the amber glow from an old floor model radio\, two young brothers aged 6 and 12 lay in their beds\, listening to the country music broadcasts from the Grand Ol’ Opry\, and practiced their harmonies. Two years later\, the youngest one was playing the definitive 8-year-old’s version of “Desolation Row” on his ukulele. He soon abandoned that instrument to teach himself the flute\, violin and guitar.\nWithin ten years\, and barely out of high school\, Garnet Rogers was on the road as a full-time working musician with his older brother Stan. Together they formed what has come to be accepted as one of the most influential acts in North American folk music. \nSince then\, Garnet Rogers has established himself as ‘One of the major talents of our time”. Hailed by the Boston Globe as a “charismatic performer and singer”\, Garnet is a man with a powerful physical presence – close to six and a half feet tall – with a voice to match. With his “smooth\, dark baritone” (Washington Post) his incredible range\, and thoughtful\, dramatic phrasing\, Garnet is widely considered by fans and critics alike to be one of the finest singers anywhere. His music\, like the man himself\, is literate\, passionate\, highly sensitive\, and deeply purposeful. Cinematic in detail\, his songs “give expression to the unspoken vocabulary of the heart” (Kitchener Waterloo Record). An optimist at heart\, Garnet sings extraordinary songs about people who are not obvious heroes and of the small victories of the everyday. As memorable as his songs\, his over-the-top humor and lightning-quick wit moves his audience from tears to laughter and back again. \nResolutely independent\, Garnet Rogers has turned down offers from major labels to do his music his own way. \nhttps://garnetrogers.com/

SUMMARY:Sol Y Canto
DESCRIPTION:Sol y Canto\, a fixture in Boston’s folk and world music scene for decades\, is the award-winning Pan-Latin ensemble led by Puerto Rican/Argentine singer and percussionist Rosi Amador and New Mexican guitarist\, singer and composer Brian Amador. Featuring Rosi’s crystalline voice and Brian’s lush Spanish guitar and inventive compositions\, Sol y Canto is known for making their music accessible to Spanish- and non-Spanish speaking audiences of all ages. Their original songs can make you dance\, laugh\, cry and sigh all in one concert and their arrangements of classic and contemporary Latin tunes are always fresh and original. With Brian’s commanding\, intricate guitar playing\, Rosi’s rhythmic drive on cajón and bongos\, and liberal use of vocal improvisation\, the duo often sounds like a much larger ensemble. \nSince 1994\, Sol y Canto has brought audiences to their feet from the Kennedy Center to the California World Music Festival to Boston’s Symphony Hall. The Boston Globe hails them as “sublime ambassadors of the Pan-Latin tradition.” Norman Weinstein of the Christian Science Monitorand Boston Phoenix observes: “Always they evoke the sensual splendor of simply being vitally\, vividly alive in a magical and mysterious universe. Brian Amador is a Spanish modernist poet in the guise of a musician…Together\, Rosi and Brian Amador create a musical marriage made in heaven.”
