This recurring cycle of creation and discovery evokes their own musical journey.

SUMMARY:The Black Feathers - Nora Meier opens
DESCRIPTION:Advance tickets are $20 for adults and $5 for those age 18 and under. Visit oldslooppresents.org\, John Tarr Store in Rockport\, or The Bookstore of Gloucester. The suggested contribution at the door is $25 for adults\, $5 for those age 18 and under\, and $50 for families. \nTickets and more information\nRay Hughes and Sian Chandler write songs that are both modern and ancient\, weaving in traditional influences so thoroughly that they become the warp and weft of fresh creations. Ray and Sian first became aware of the magic between them while collaborating on several musical projects\, becoming The Black Feathers and life partners in 2012. Americana\, Folk\, and Acoustic Indie Rock sensibilities coexist comfortably in their musical world\, with Hughes’ guitar work buoying the kind of harmonies often only heard in family bands. Their music quickly draws the interest of listeners\, but it is the stage chemistry that will keep them riveted. \nNora Meier is a frequent moviegoer\, a daughter of two English majors\, an Oregonian at heart\, a verbal processor\, a big reader\, extremely stubborn\, and always writing. She was raised on her dad’s curated mixtapes and epic vinyl collection\, which cultivated her deep love for the format of The Album and an obsession with Bruce Springsteen. Her debut album\, Outfield\, was born during a full moon / lunar eclipse on a farm in Connecticut with the help of some of her favorite musicians. Eleven songs were tracked in seven days\, interspersed by basketball scrimmages\, deli trips and walks around a big field.

SUMMARY:"Bound for Glory" (Woody Guthrie tribute show)
DESCRIPTION:$10 Admission for all at the door \nFSSGB is pleased to present “Bound for Glory”\, our Woody Guthrie Tribute show. The show features many FSSGB members and friends\, many of whom have performed in past Woody shows going way back to the 60’s. \n“Bound for Glory” is a performance of songs and stories about the life of Woodrow Wilson (“Woody”) Guthrie\, considered by many to be the founder of modern American folk music. Many wonderful songs written by Woody and performed by members of FSSGB are interspersed with short recitations from his autobiography. It is a funny\, cynical\, earthy and tragic account of his life in an Oklahoma oil-boom town\, of the Depression that followed\, and of his subsequent travels in\, on\, and under trains\, in stolen cars and on his feet\, round an America going rotten from the top downwards. \nChorus sheets are made available and the audience is encouraged to sing along. \nRefreshments will be served at intermission. \nParking: there are small lots on either side of the church\, and there’s some on-street parking in the neighborhood. We’re allowed to park at the middle school next door (75 Church St)\, and there’s a municipal lot at the intersection of Church St and Rt 20 (one block south of the church). See detailed parking guidance for more tips.

There will be refreshments for purchase.  Tickets cost $15 and are available online at https://www.dedhamuu.org/live-music and at the door.  Doors open at 7:00 pm. \nSweet Haven is an acoustic and vocal group performing a variety of traditional music and contemporary Americana tunes\, with inspiration from many sources. From a modest beginning as the house band for a production of Alice in Wonderland at First Church in Dedham in 2013\, Sweet Haven grew to be a local favorite that played many Dedham venues.  After two of the five founding members\, Steve Cecil and Fred Civian\, moved out of the area the band went on hiatus. Then in September of 2025 the opportunity for an international reunion tour (aka one gig at a bistro in southern France) led to a rekindling of the spark.  The core of the band’s sound is 3-part vocal harmonies from Lisa Seibert\, banjo player Linnea Bardarson and mandolinist Natalie Jensen\, and we now welcome new members Tim Parke on guitar and George Batchelor on bass. \nFirst Church and Parish Dedham Unitarian Universalist was gathered in 1638 and is located in Dedham Center at 670 High Street. Its lively music program includes choir at Sunday services\, the Parish Players theater troupe\, and our Friday Folk Coffeehouse.

SUMMARY:Peter Mulvey
DESCRIPTION:Peter Mulvey has been a songwriter\, road-dog\, raconteur and almost-poet since before he can remember. Raised working-class Catholic on the Northwest side of Milwaukee\, he took a semester in Ireland and immediately began cutting classes to busk on Grafton Street in Dublin and hitchhike through the country\, finding whatever gigs he could. Back stateside\, he spent a couple years gigging in the Midwest before lighting out for Boston\, where he returned to busking (this time in the subway) and coffeehouses. Small shows led to larger shows\, which eventually led to regional and then national and international touring. The wheels have not stopped since. \nNineteen records\, an illustrated book\, thousands of live performances\, a TEDx talk\, a decades-long association with the National Youth Science Camp\, opening for luminaries such as Ani DiFranco\, Emmylou Harris and Chuck Prophet\, appearances on NPR\, an annual autumn tour by bicycle\, emceeing festivals\, hosting his own boutique festival (the Lamplighter Sessions\, in Boston and Wisconsin… Mulvey never stops. He has built his life’s work on collaboration and an instinct for the eclectic and the vital. He folds everything he encounters into his work: poetry\, social justice\, scientific literacy and a deeply abiding humanism are all on plain display in his art.

DESCRIPTION:Weather permitting\, this concert will be outdoors on the hosts’ covered patio at their home in Rockport\, Mass. If the weather is horrid\, the concert will move indoors and capacity will be limited to 30. The suggested contribution is $20\, payable at the door by cash\, check\, or Venmo. Send email to info@whalecove.org to get more information or to request an invitation. \nSinger-songwriter-storyteller Dan Pallotta has returned to making music after a 30 year hiatus. He was hardly idle during that time. His endeavors would make a great book. And a movie. And\, in fact\, they already have! Dan’s writing comes from the wisdom he’s accumulated in those years\, from his empathy for all those who suffer in the world\, who struggle in the desert between their potential and their reality\, their dream and their situation\, witnessed from the perspective of those years working in philanthropy. Many songs are stories told from the perspective of the unique characters he’s encountered.

SUMMARY:Shawn Mullins
DESCRIPTION:I am very excited to bring Shawn Mullins for his first ever appearance in Peterborough\, NH. He is the only musician who has been on every one of the amazing music cruises that I have gone on for 9 years now. Cayamo! Check it out! Cayamo – February 26 – March 5\, 2027 \nMaybe we’ll see you on the cruise. We LOVE Shawn Mullins and I’m happy to share him with you all. \n“Shawn Mullins is a folk-rock troubadour of long standing\, having cut his teeth on the local scene in his hometown of Atlanta\, self-releasing a string of albums before signing with Columbia and abruptly hitting it big with his 1998 single ‘Lullaby’. |\n—Daily Vault \n“Shawn Mullins’ voice is like Crème Brulee. … dark and sugar coated\, yet warm and silky. Shawn is the ultimate storyteller\n—showsigoto \nABOUT: \nAfter a series of indie releases and growing buzz in the Atlanta music scene\, Shawn Mullins’ critical and commercial breakthrough came when 1998 Soul’s Core shot him to fame on the strength of Grammy-nominated No. 1 hit\, “Lullaby” followed by AAA/Americana No. 1 hit “Beautiful Wreck” from 2006’s 9th Ward Pickin’ Parlor. His song\, “Shimmer” was used in promotion of the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney and was included on the Dawson’s Creek soundtrack. His co-write “All in My Head” from 2008’s Honeydew was featured in episode one of the hit TV sitcom “Scrubs.” Mullins also co-wrote the Zac Brown Band’s No. 1 country tune “Toes.” \nIn early 2002\, he formed supergroup The Thorns with Matthew Sweet and Pete Droge. “No Blue Sky” from the resulting album\, is a modern day classic. For the 20th anniversary of his breakthrough album\, Shawn revisited the music of Soul’s Core by recording two new versions of the album. He calls this Soul’s Core Revival. This is not a remix or a remaster of the original\, but rather brand new recordings with new arrangements of the songs – one album is stripped down solo performances\, some on guitar\, some on piano and maybe one a cappella and the second is a new studio recording with his full band\, Soul Carnival. \nRead so much more at Shawn Mullins
