The suggested contribution at the door is $25 for adults\, $5 for those age 18 and under\, and $50 for families. \nTickets and more information\nTret Fure began her career at the age of 16\, singing in coffeehouses and campuses in the Midwest. At 19\, she moved to LA in hopes of obtaining a record deal. Within a year she was performing as guitarist and vocalist for Spencer Davis\, touring with him and penning the single for his album Mousetrap. She went on to record her own album Tret Fure in 1973\, on MCA/UNI Records\, with the late Lowell George of Little Feat as her producer. With the success of that release\, she opened for such bands as Yes\, Poco\, and the J Geils Band. \nA prolific artist in the contemporary singer-songwriter arena\, Tret Fure has released 18 albums and CDs over the course of her 51-year career. Her new CD\, Lavender Moonshine was released in late 2023. In addition to being a gifted songwriter\, Fure has engineered and produced countless recordings by a variety of artists\, including her own work. \nIn the early ’80s\, Tret moved to the independent side of the industry discovering the blossoming genre known as Women’s Music. She recorded with and produced some of the best of women’s music including mixing the legendary Meg & Cris at Carnegie Hall (1983). She worked as a duo with Cris Williamson throughout the ’90s\, producing\, engineering and releasing three CDs together. Now after nine acoustic releases on her own label\, Tomboy girl Records\, she has re-established herself in the folk world. \nNora Meier is a diehard music fan\, a frequent moviegoer\, a daughter of two English majors\, an Oregonian at heart\, a verbal processor\, a big reader\, extremely stubborn\, and always writing. Her debut album Outfield was born on a farm in Connecticut with the help of some of her favorite musicians. Eleven songs were tracked in seven days\, interspersed by basketball scrimmages\, deli trips and walks around a big field.

Tickets are $22 and can be purchased in advance on our website.\nABOUT THE ARTISTS\nBird & Augur is a Rhode Island–based anticapitalist folk duo inspired by the traditions of solidarity and resistance that shape labor songs\, protest anthems\, and folk music globally. With rich harmonies\, intricate fingerpicking\, and heartfelt storytelling\, Bo Fage (they/them\, guitar) and James Cappelletti (he/him\, banjo) lend their voices to an ongoing reckoning with systems of violence and control. Their music invites listeners to build community\, and to attend to the signs\, the stories\, and the unfolding future that still responds to care and intention. They have performed on the Stone Soup Coffeehouse stage at the Music Mansion before during an open mic night and as part of our June fundraiser in 2024. They have been well received by all\, and we wanted to bring them back to showcase their incredible talent\, as well as the profound messages in their songs\, as Stone Soup has always been a place where social justice and the human condition has been the front and center of our mission\, as well.

DESCRIPTION:Over the last couple years we have tried a lot of things on our open mic stage. In Season 42\, we held workshops for developing musicians. in Season 43\, we invited hosts of other open mics around the state to feature on our stage. We trained new sound engineers only to forgo all the tech. It’s now musicians and audiences in a room together – a room designed for music to flow and flourish. \nEd Dean returns as our open mic host\, opening the doors to The Music Mansion. It’s a welcoming environment for beginners\, new artists\, and veteran local musicians. The Open Mic Series is one of the ways we practice what we preach and Ed is an  incredible minister for this community. Hope to see you there.

He began his full-time songwriting career in the late 1990s. In London\, he collaborated with top-tier performers before moving to Paris in 2001\, where he formed his own quartet and began performing regularly. Since relocating to the United States in 2006\, Wates has earned more than 50 songwriting and performing awards. His music is an eclectic blend of acoustic\, melodic art/folk infused with elements of jazz\, vaudeville\, and cabaret. He has released twelve solo albums\, each earning critical acclaim and international airplay. His songs have been covered by artists across the UK\, Canada\, and the U.S.\, In 2016 alone\, over 20 cover recordings of his songs were released. \nPerforming an average of 120 shows annually across the U.S.\, Canada\, and Europe\, Wates prefers intimate listening rooms where the focus is on connection and storytelling. He was voted Artist of the Year in both 2013 and 2016 by Concerts In Your Home. In 2018\, he was a finalist in the Kerrville New Folk Song Contest and named an Emerging Artist at the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival. DESCRIPTION:Mike Laureanno hails from Fall River\, MA an old mill-town infamous for its axe wielding resident Lizzie Borden and famous for its chow mein sandwiches and pork pies.​A passionate performer\, Mike’s songs are visceral and evocative. He is proud of his roots and many of his songs deal with his gritty blue collar hometown and the lives of his family and friends. He is a winner of the 2017 Wildflower\, TX songwriting contest\, the 2016 Woody Guthrie songwriting contest and a 2016 Kerrville New Folk\, TX finalist. \nMike is also a skilled recording engineer\, producer and veteran sideman. He produced and recorded all of his albums in his home studio and he served twelve years as the bass player for the legendary New York City FAST FOLK Musical Magazine founder\, Jack Hardy. \n​Mike has released four albums to date\, Pushing Back Wintertime (2013)\, Road Signs (2015)\, Tightrope (2017) and I come from Fall River (2021) \nBristol-RI-based singer-songwriter Michelle Saylors was raised on a 30-acre farm in bible-belt Tennessee. Early musical inspirations include country\, bluegrass-gospel\, folk and Memphis blues. Michelle performed bluegrass music in the early 90s at festivals such as Lester Flat Bluegrass Festival and the Country Showdown. Michelle moved to New England in 1998 and landed in Rhode Island in 2009 where she became involved in the Rhode Island Songwriters Association. Michelle played at the Bluebird Café in Nashville at Songwriters open mics on several occasions. Michelle performed at the Providence Folk Festival in 2014 and the Rhode Island Folk Festival in 2022. \nIn July of 2024\, Michelle released her solo debut album titled “Hit the Creek” which features 10 original songs written solely by Michelle. The album has been well-received by fans and continues to gain momentum on streaming platforms nationally and recently hit the UK. Her songwriting is rooted both physically and metaphorically by the space and distance between small town Tennessee and coastal New England. Michelle is currently working on her second album. She identifies her musical style as Nashville blues-country/bluegrass/folk.

DESCRIPTION:With influences from all across the board\, The Lindsays have been described as an eclectic mix of music Irish\, Folk and beyond!  The band has had different line-ups with Stephen Lindsay being the constant on vocals and guitar\, having grown up in Dublin with ballads and tunes\, taking influences from Christy Moore\, Wally Page\, The Dubliners\, The Furey Brothers\, Wolfe Tones\, Jim McCann\, The Pogues\, Bob Dylan\, John Prine and others.  Playing with a strong rhythm driving style\, Stephen sings with emotion and heartfelt delivery.  From Bristol RI\, with a bluegrass background\, Ted Mello plays upright bass and backing vocals\, bringing much ambiance to the trio.  Katy Boc Nickerson plays exquisite fiddle\, adding her unique style to the songs and ballads while also paying attention to the Irish tradition with sets of jigs\, reels\, horn pipe and an occasional slow air.  Together The Lindsays make up a powerful pulse of music that will move you\, letting the lyrics linger a little longer or breaking out to dance a few steps!
