Doors Open at 7:00 PM \n$20 Members/ $22 non-members in advance ; $25 at the door (if available) \n  \nCosy Sheridan has been called one of the era’s finest and most thoughtful songwriters\, and also ‘a buddhist monk trapped in the body of a singer-songwriter’. Her music regularly tops the folk radio charts. SUMMARY:Andy Cohen\, Eleanor Ellis and William Lee Ellis House Concert
DESCRIPTION:$20 at the door\nReservations required: HouseConcerts@fssgb.org \nAcclaimed acoustic performers Andy Cohen\, Eleanor Ellis and William Lee Ellis return as a trio with this new album\, WHISTLIN’ PAST THE GRAVEYARD. Released on Cohen’s Riverlark label\, the ambitious project is a 21-track tour-de-force of old-time blues\, gospel\, ballads\, ragtime\, and country song that surpasses their previous high bar\, the 1993 Marimac outing\, Preachin’ in That Wilderness. \nAll three musicians have established themselves as noted artists in the folk and blues worlds\, both on stage and in the studio: Eleanor records for the Patuxent label\, Andy for Earwig Music\, and William for Yellow Dog\, where his latest solo album\, Ghost Hymns\, earned a Blues Music Awards nomination for Acoustic Blues Album of the Year. \nProduced by William Lee Ellis and River Hartley (Ghost Hymns)\, Whistlin’ is a truly unique listen\, one that fits no single musical category; rather\, it explores with finger-picked verve and joy the expansive palette of America’s musical past\, still relevant and very much alive in the sound of this remarkable trio. \nANDY COHEN: “A singularly unique figure\, Andy Cohen deserves some long overdue accolades.” – ALL MUSIC GUIDE \nELEANOR ELLIS: “A celebrated master of the country and Piedmont blues\, one of the most significant women in the acoustic genre… a torchbearer.” – LIVING BLUES \nWILLIAM LEE ELLIS: “A masterful genre-bender who sounds completely at home and thoroughly invested in whatever style he tackles.” – ACOUSTIC GUITAR

Gary Davis perform and the effect on him was profound. He has devoted his life to studying\, performing\, and promoting traditional blues and folk music of the pre-World War II era. Andy has toured solo\, as well as with Martin\, Bogan and Armstrong\, John Jackson\, Rev. Gary Davis\, Brother Daniel Womack\, Rev. Dan Smith\, Jim Brewer\, and Honeyboy Edwards. You’ll learn how to keep your thumb going\, count while playing\, And learn how to play a scale in major and minor sixths.

SUMMARY:Fiddler\, singer and songwriter Kathleen Parks
DESCRIPTION:Kathleen Parks is a fiddler\, singer\, and songwriter who brings joyful and creative energy to the stage and studio. \nHer writing leans toward Pop\, Folk\, and classic Jazz\, while her virtuosic fiddle blends and reimagines traditional and modern musical styles with boundless groove\, and a playful improvisational spirit. \nHer deep grounding in Celtic and American roots music blends with her love for pop songwriting\, funk rhythms\, soulful vocals\, and groove-based improvisation\, making every performance unexpected yet familiar: a musical journey from beginning to end. \nFor Kathleen\, music is not about perfection\, but feeling.   This is what has always driven her to write\, sing\, and play. Connection to yourself is key to playing\, to playing with others\, and moving an audience. Kathleen strives to always bring this musical value to her teaching and performances alike. \nKathleen is also a founding member of Twisted Pine and the duo Kat and Brad. \n“Goosebump-inducing vocal performances from Kathleen Parks…”– Glide Magazine – \nSee kathleenparksmusic.com for more info. \nTickets are $20 in advance at Eventbrite.com and $25 on the day of the concert.  Doors open at 7:00 and the show begins at 7:30. \nClick to buy tickets now.

DESCRIPTION:$20 at the door ($5 for students)\nReservations required: HouseConcerts@fssgb.org \nYou can pay with cash at the door\, or purchase tickets in advance. \nSally Rogers and Howie Bursen have been a performing duo since they met in 1981 in a Greenwich Village coffeehouse. They play both traditional American and original songs and tunes to delight audiences from their home in Connecticut to far reaching places like Hungary and …Israel! Howie is also an award-winning winemaker and Sally is a Master Teaching Artist in Connecticut schools. \nFolk singer\, songwriter and educator Sally Rogers has performed from coast to coast for forty years. She has performed for audiences around the world at festivals\, concerts\, schools\, and most any other public place you can imagine. Sally is equally talented at stirring a crowd to sing\, or at using music to draw out even the shyest child in a classroom to become an active and enthusiastic participant. Widely known for her crystal clear voice\, Sally accompanies herself with guitar\, banjo and mountain dulcimer. Many of these instruments are used in her solo performances. \nHowie Bursen is best known for his gravity-defying\, triplet-filled\, fiddle-tune variations and is certainly one of today’s foremost practitioners of clawhammer banjo style. He has taught clawhammer at the Maryland Banjo Academy\, Common Ground and the California Traditional Solstice Festival\, and his eclectic recordings contain quite a number of stellar clawhammer solos. Speaking of eclectic\, Howie is also an excellent singer\, song-writer and guitarist\, and he makes his living as manager and head wine-maker for a Connecticut vineyard. \nTogether they present a fun-filled evening of entertainment that’s not to be missed!

SUMMARY:Kossoy Sisters with Kate Seeger and Dean Spencer
DESCRIPTION:Newton Corner\, MA\n$20 at the door ($5 for students)\nReservations required: HouseConcerts@fssgb.org \nThe Kossoy Sisters\, Irene Saletan and Ellen Christenson\, performed at the first Newport Folk Festival\, sang in the original Production of Woody Guthrie’s Bound for Glory\, and recorded their legendary Bowling Green for Tradition Records. In their early teenage years\, they became immersed in traditional songs and became part of the music scene in Washington Square in Greenwich Village. By the age of 20\, they had performed widely in New York. In addition to Newport\, the Kossoy Sisters performed at many other festivals and coffee houses\, including the Fox Hollow Festival\, University of Chicago Folk Festival\, and the Eisteddfod in eastern Massachusetts. In 1997\, Bowling Green was reissued as a CD by Rykodisc. The Kossoys resumed performing for the Folk Song Society of Greater Boston\, the Folklore Society of Greater Washington\, the Pinewoods Folk Music Club of New York\, and participated in the Truly Acoustic Folk Festival in Cambridge\, MA and the Summer Solstice Festival in southern California\, among others. In 2001\, the Coen Brothers included the Kossoy Sisters’ version of “I’ll Fly Away” in their movie\, O Brother\, Where Art Thou. Their album Hop on Pretty Girls was released in the fall of 2002.
