Don White and Christine Lavin

Don White and Christine Lavin have toured all over North America in a show called “The Funny Side of the Street” for eight and a half years. They are both pursuing solo endeavors these days but this show is only one of two co-bills planned for 2019.  Come celebrate Don’s birthday with him at this show too!

DON WHITE

There is no one-word description for what Don White does. He has survived and thrived for twenty-five years, bringing his audiences to laughter and tears in his live performances, studio recordings, and on the printed page. He is a storyteller-comedian-author-troubadour-folk singer-songwriter. He is a walking challenge to the phrase file under. Best to just sort him under Don White.
Dons approach to music is a weird, unique blend. If he just played folk music, it would be a handy label. But he has invented his own genre with a mix of humor and powerful songwriting. Whites arc as a writer and performer has taken him from his industrial
hometown of Lynn, Ma across the country as hitchhiker, through Bostons comedy clubs and coffeehouses, and onto the stage with greats like Christine Lavin, Arlo Guthrie, Taj Mahal, Ritchie Havens, Patty Larkin, Bill Morrissey, Tom Rush, and Loudon Wainright III. At every point, White has been the ultimate observer, infusing his work with his experiences as a husband, a father, a seeker, and a joker.

CHRISTINE LAVIN
Christine Lavin is a singer/songwriter/guitarist/recording artist who has been based in New York City since 1984.  She has just released her 23rd solo album, SPAGHETTIFICATION, which was #5 for the month of September according to the International FolkDJ chart.. Her 22nd album, CHRISTINE LAVIN & FRIENDS LIVE AT McCABE’S GUITAR SHOP was produced by Hillary Rollins, and includes five LA performers (Gary Stockdale, Pat Whiteman, Cynthia Carle, David Lucky, and MaryJo Mundy), and one revered British singer/songwriter, Daniel Cainer.  Christine sings seven songs on this album, too.

The food-themed compilation One Meat Ball, includes a 96-page cookbook that Christine edited.  For four years she hosted “Slipped Disks” on XM satellite radio, playing CDs slipped to her backstage by compatriots and is the occasional guest host for the City Folk Sunday Sunday Supper on WFUV-FM at Fordham University.  She also writes freelance for various publications (including The Washington Post, Huffington Post, The St. Petersburg Times, The Performing Songwriter, and Delta “Sky” Magazine).  Her song “Amoeba Hop” was turned into a science/music book by illustrator Betsy Franco Feeney (Puddle Jump Press), received the stamp of approval from The International Society of Protistologists, and a “Best Book Award” from the American Association for The Advancement of Science.
