Abbie Gardner, the fiery Dobro player with an infectious smile, has been touring with Americana darlings Red Molly for the past 11 years. After gracing stages from Denver to Denmark, from Australia to Austin and our stage a couple of times, the band took an indefinite hiatus in 2015, so Abbie has struck out on her own. We’re excited to welcome her back!

Susan Cattaneo is one of Boston’s most respected songwriters. A powerful singer and sophisticated writer, Susan combines vivid storytelling with a modern songwriter’s spin. Respectful of tradition, but not bound by it, Susan blends rock, folk and blues with a healthy dose of country. Call it New England Americana with a twang. Abbye West Pates, the winner of our 2017 Performing Songwriter Competition, is a songwriter and storyteller based in Memphis, Tenn. Born and raised in southern Mississippi, she was inspired by folk/Americana artists like Patty Griffin and authors like Wendell Berry.

Heather Pierson is an award-­winning multi-instrumentalist, singer/songwriter, and performer. From New Orleans-­style jazz and blues to rousing Americana and poignant folk narratives, Heather’s live performances, both solo and with her acoustic trio (Davy Sturtevant on strings/cornet and Shawn Nadeau on bass), feature her virtuosity on piano, her bell-­tone vocals, and her commanding yet playful stage presence while wielding a tenor banjo, melodica, ukulele, or acoustic guitar.

A 15-time winner of the Boston Music Awards, Ellis Paul is a transformative songwriter whose shows are just mesmerizing. He last played at the Rose Garden in 2001. It’s a thrill to have him back. “Despite his success and sense of history, Mr. Paul remains an artist with his eye on the future and an interest in discovering the transformative potential in his music.” – The New York Times  Also this night will feature the finals of our 26th Performing Songwriter Competition. The finalists will be named in late April.
